Re: Anna-Lena Friedsam

lost 16 64 36!
was somehow clear that she would be able to win one set at least but in the end too many lapses again and you can´t afford that against someone like Kasatkina.
The slow courts in Paris clearly were an advantage for the Russian as well, who plays best on clay anyway IMO and ALD just not consistent enough, always has some times during the matches where she loses her concentration, gets annoyed etc., 0-5 down in 1st set, immediately 0-4 down in 3rd set and Kasatkina...
Shame that she did not have an easier first round match here, the Russian has good chances to go far now here with Kerber out, could have been a good chance for ALF also but she should rest now and get ready for grass and ALF can play on grass, we saw that last year, so hopefully some good results there.

Anna-Lena was sitting next to me watching Errani-Pironkova. No idea why she (or I) watched that natch.

Re: Anna-Lena Friedsam

First, congrats to ALF for breaking into the the Top 50 first the first time! Now has halved her ranking since the beginning of the year.

Too bad she meets surging Kasatkina in the opening round;it will be hard for her to defend her second round points.

Still gluck to her!

Re: Anna-Lena Friedsam

Kasatkina beat ALF earlier this year in IW and had great results also in general but she does not have any bigger weapons, ALF has more power and she can win it but she will need to have a good day but it´s possible, we´ll see..

In the doubles there is a wo. and Annika Beck plays her single (this single match SF is scheduled before the double SF), so what does this mean ?
Why there is a wo. in the doubles ?
Better a WO in Nürnberg than in Paris

Re: Anna-Lena Friedsam

shame that she couldn´t take one of those SPs in the TB of the first set, quality was good except for the 3rd set, in general Annika was just more solid, more consistent, ALF just has to work on that but she is on a good way again, good tournament in general, she also has to get fitter, was somehow obvious that the 3rd set would be weaker again after she won the 2nd set, hopefully the injury is not too serious and that she will be at 100% at RG and can get a a win there with a good draw.

ALF out of doubles with a lower back injury. Just hope it's nothing serious.

Re: Anna-Lena Friedsam

Congrats on reaching Nürnberg QF, Anna-Lena !

She looks in very good form and is a strong candidate for the final in my opinion

Now QF match Friedsam vs Beck ! The match for last Olympic place !
