Those are unrelated events, you cannot simply add those percentages together. Yes, the chance is probably higher than 5% (I'm not a mathematician, this is just pure logic), but it's definitely not 35%. So, from a probability point of view (not medically speaking), she shouldn't have such a high chance of not being able to recover based solely on that particular problem with the injured tendons Just my 2 (hopefully reassuring) cents
30% chance to the nearest percentile of at least one of 7 independent events each a 5% chance happening.

But we shouldn't really be taking the figures literally.

Did the doc say what time period he was talking about for the tendon to remain intact? Lifetime, tennis career, match? The first, hopefully.

Re: Petra Kvitova News and Articles

Old article, but reading these quotes makes it look promising https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/31368...urn-to-tennis/

“Petra’s convalescence is continuing as planned, so far there are no complications, but everything is up in the air as to her return.”

Doctors had previously estimated that the Czech superstar would not return to competition before the second half of this year.

But Tejkal has said the signs are promising that Kvitova’s recovery is looking positive

Re: Petra Kvitova News and Articles

Petra on Instagram: Hi guys! I wanted to say hello since time is flying by - three whole months already since the attack - and let you know that I'm working really hard on my recovery. I still can't tell you when I will be back, but I can tell you that tennis is a huge motivation for me and I realised while I've been away how much I like challenges! My perspective on life has changed a lot and I am doing everything to give myself a second chance to be back on the court. I thank you for staying with me through this and I hope to see you all soon, love Petra
