OU wins doubles

"Huet and Ritchie defeated OSU's Meghan Blevins and Mary Jermiah in the doubles final, 9-8 (5).

This marks the third straight year that a Sooner duo won the Central Region doubles title. Former Sooner Ana-Maria Constantinescu won both the 2010 and 2009 titles with partners Alice Radu and Teona Tsertsvadze respectively. "

Thx.

She won it all, beating Tomljanovic in 3 Curious how she plays..

So Santamaria and Bektas are the only freshman winners?
And at last Gibbsy wins something

Stanford, Georgia and Maryland are the schools that won BOTH competitions

TCU team were seeded 6th, Maryland team were seeded 7th and won it all.

Re: 2011 Regionals

Sad that Trice and Ester couldn't pull out the doubles championship. Also kind of weird that Turewicz withdrew against Clayton right after beating Bek convincingly! Hope she's okay and that there wasn't any "strategy" going on there...Monica really had a good chance to win the tournament based on how she's played all year. Also, I have no idea why Kahan didn't play regionals.

Damn it's too bad Christian will not be showcasing her skills, NY's loss I guess.
Same for McLane, she and Lindsey lost to Guarachi/Macfarlane 9-8(3)

And who is Cristina Stancu? 16th seed and beat Jeltje-Loomans, Vierra, Fraser to reach the final

Re: 2011 Regionals

So Burdette, Gibbs, Will, Embree, Frilling, Macfarlane, Gullickson, Anderson 8 players are competing at NY in both singles and doubles. Is that all? Sanchez-Quintanar at Texas Regional could do it I guess?

Doubles: (20 draw)
· 12 Regional Champions
· 2 All-American Finalists
· 1 All-American Consolation Winner

· 1 Super Bowl Champion
· 1 Host Wildcard
· 1 USTA Wildcard
· 2 At-Large

"To be considered for an at-large selection in women’s doubles, a team must have reached at
least the semifinals of a Division I USTA/ITA Regional Championship. From this pool, the
National Tournament Committee will select doubles teams based on fall results and
preseason rankings
. "

I guess Christian/Santamaria still has chance

bolded ones are the teams who are going from the top ranked teams;

1 Keri Wong Josipa Bek Clemson
3 Linda Abu Mushrefova Nida Hamilton NU(final)
4 Sofie Oyen Allie Will UF
5 Kristy Frilling Shannon Mathews ND

7 Kathryn Talbert Kayla Duncan Wake Forest (semi)
8 Emily Fraser Hana Tomlijanovic UVA(possible, N/D)
11 Mallory Burdette Nicole Gibbs
12 Lauren Embree Joanna Mather

17 Brooke Bolender Emina Bektas (semi)
18 Kaitlyn Christian Sabrina Santamaria(final)
19 Boxx Guthrie(semi)
20 Fuller Herring (final)

Assuming that the UVA team wins the Regional,
NU is WAATC semifinalist, WF Quarterfinalist so they might get the at-large bid..that still leaves the USTA one, do hope USC can get it They fared better than the MICH team at WAATC, so here's to hope

P.S.
"Any coach who wishes to have a singles player or doubles team considered for an
at-large selection must apply online at these links: Singles / Doubles (ITAtennis.com).
Coaches who do not submit their at-large application(s) before the deadline will NOT
have their players considered for an at-large spot.
Deadline: Sunday, October 23, 2011, Midnight (local time)"
