Re: Martina Navratilova Admiration Thread

Happy birthday to Martina, love and happiness to her and her family.

Puma was her sponsor with the nice sweater from 1984, one of the few companies who dared to sponsor Martina during her career only European and Japanese sponsors.

Ah-the big hair of the 1980s. Hairspray companies must miss the "glory days."

She huffed and puffed all right-but on this day Evert wolf couldn't blow Martini's house down
According to Martina there was nothing intentional about that beautiful touch volley on match point . LOL, her hands were shaking from nerves

Rollo was right about the place Washington but it was 1975 quarter final Virginia Slims sudden death tiebreak 5-4 indoor carpet. Martina was so good on carpet and indoor.

Re: Martina Navratilova Admiration Thread

Off the top of my head I swear Nav didn't beat up on Evert until 1975? ANd then didn't she have her longest losing streak until '77? But, yes, video of this please!!

Re: Martina Navratilova Admiration Thread

It would be cool to have video of Navratilova's first win over Evert at Washington DC in 1974. I think it was actually sudden-death point in a third set tiebreak-match point for both women!

LOL Wimbledon 1915

Jan Kodes is right Martina was already a big shot in Czechoslovakia.

Martina won mixed doubles Roland Garros 1974 with Molinari reached the singles final of Australian Open and Roland Garros 1975. Doubles final win of Roland Garros with Chris Evert 1975, on top of that the Federation cup 1975. A lot of players would call that good.
