Re: Melanie Oudin

Hopeful she can get an early start on the grass and get some momentum there. But it can take a while. Xtina seems to be finally getting her game back after her illness, how long did that take? Could be a long haul for little Mel

Re: Melanie Oudin

Mel won! def. Kato 63 63. Nine WTA points for a first-rd win in 50K+H. Great decision to play here.

(Bonus: they won their doubles match yesterday, too )

Re: Melanie Oudin

Melanie plays 6th seed Miyu Kato in R1. She's also playing doubles with Deniz Khazaniuk

I think her doubles match is being streamed tomorrow here: Open International de Tennis

Re: Melanie Oudin

Yeah, I figured that. Smart move and also impressive; I think she's the only North American player there.

Prepping for the French. Entered qualies with her SR.

Re: Melanie Oudin

Lost 16 36 1/7 on bps won & 0/5 on bps saved

Maybe she'll get a LL spot - and she's also playing doubles with Jamie Loeb

Re: Melanie Oudin

Aww, Mel. But seriously, it's a great thing to come through a match like that. Stays in the memory banks that she made it through the rough patches and won. Keep it up, Mel!

I know you don't need the play by play but this is what happened anyway

Quick start to 3-0* then 3-4* out of nowhere. Two more breaks in a row (including saving a set point at 4-5* 40-AD), and finally holds and breaks to love to take the set 7-5.

Df's on game point and gets broken, 0-1*. Wins 17 points in a row (!!!) and goes up 4-1*. Saves a game point and holds to 30 to win 7-5 6-1. Lost 5 points (including 1 df in the last six games of the match, don't know whether Olga was injured or not )

FQR against (6) Kingsley! Another tough one, lets go Mel!!
Sounds about right
She likes to keep them interesting Hopefully she can win some more
