Re: Ana Vrljic cheering thread

Ana hasn't done much in the last few months, since my last post she first failed to qualify for a 25k, then she did qualify for one but fell in R1, then played the only decent event where she got to the QF at Padova 25k. After that it was R1, follwed by two R2's (all on 25k's), then R2 at a 60k but the win came against a player outside of top 800, then she again qualified for a 25k only to fall in R1 twice in a row, but this week she started off with a win at a 60k in Turkey against Ozgen, who used to be ranked around 200 (she is now closer to 800, but still...).

A. Vrljic def. P. Ozgen 6:4, 6:2
[6] A. Raina def. B. Akbas (WC) 6:2, 6:1

Amanmuradova/Honcova def. Ozgen/Vrljic (WC) 6:3, 6:3

Re: Ana Vrljic cheering thread

In R1 she beat fellow qualifier Udvardy 6:3, 7:5 and then fell today to top seeded Soylu 7:5, 6:2.

Still, 3 wins is not a common occurrence for Ana these days, and even the last scoreline seems respectable, so I'd say it was a good run

In doubles, as the 3rd seed and teamed up with Podoroska, she passed R1 with a 6:4, 7:5 win over Ostlund/Potocnik, but in the quarters they gave their opponents (wildcards Horvath/Szalai) a walkover. Too bad, looked like a chance for more wins.

Re: Ana Vrljic cheering thread

After making just one quali win in her last two events played, Ana qualified today for a 25k in Hungary, as the 10th seed.

Q1: bye
Q2: def. Stolmar 6:1, 6:2
Q3: def. [4] Vdovenko 6:1, 6:0

Good luck in the main draw

So after reaching the final that week in doubles (6:4, 2:6, 5-10 to Kapshay/Wachaczyk) Ana went on to play another 15k in Sharm, this time singles only, she took out #493 Ainitdinova, but then retired against Wachaczyk in the next round.

Next for her are qualies for 60k in Croissy-Beaubourg, she's passed the first round, beat #501 Zarytska 6:4, 6:4, plays #270 Lapko in QR2.

GL!

It's not like she had a big choice when picking a tournament There are only 15k in Europe this week I believe

And JR is not an indicator. I remember how they were shit talking Domachowska for losing to Parmentier in the 1st round of Roland Garros. Of course Parmentier does not have CHR higher than Marta, but she has something Marta never won. WTA title. In fact titles.

Of course those loses are not nice, but Ana still can be a decent doubles player and as long as she feels she wants to play, she can. Just hopefully she won't end up like Daniilidou who is the one who should really retire.
