Re: Magda Linette

Yes, that's why she has a real shot at reaching top 50 if she makes some good start next year Hopefully she kicks off her season in Shenzhen, this way she could extend her good Asian stats

Season is over for her now. Time for rest and practice and get ready to make a good start in 2018 She must crack the top 50 next year.
Those wins in Asian Swing were vital I was afraid at some point that she can fall outside top 100 as her ranking was going down but now she's #72 with not much to defend early next season.

Re: Magda Linette

She retired officially because of a left knee injury.
She's in the main draw of Tianjin though, playing Kateryna Bondarenko in R1 (next would be Garcia or Sharapova ).

Re: Magda Linette

What happened to Linette? Injury or illness (apparently many player caught some virus in China)?

I could not find any info and did not watch the match either. Was it even streamed?

Re: Magda Linette

She got Elena Vesnina in the first round. Hard to predict this one, but Magda leads their H2H with a win

Re: Magda Linette

Madzia qualified so at least +30 points
Hopefully she gets Sloane, Bertens or Radwanska

And she has a mission - to improve her first half of the year So she can crack top 50.

Re: Magda Linette

Asia here she is, she's doing really well at the moment! She qualified for Tokyo main draw (def. two WC's and K.Bondarenko) to score her biggest win to date against Gavrilova (2-6 6-0 7-6), then losing again to Ka.Pliskova.
This week she has qualified again for the main draw in Wuhan and now she's already in the 3rd round after very good wins over Kontaveit and Siniakova, both in straight sets! 7-5 6-4 and 6-1 6-2.

Next is World No.1 Muguruza, too many top players on Magda's road lately...

Re: Magda Linette

She had a pretty good summer by the way, after disappointing runs on grass in June. She qualified for Cincinnati MD (beating Dolehide in a never-ending three setter, and then Diyas in straight sets), then for New Haven MD with wins over Parmentier and Nara (she trailed 0-3 in H2H with both) and a big one over Roberta Vinci (6-3 6-1 !) before losing to Zhang Shuai in three sets. At the US Open she was very unlucky to draw World No.1 Karo Pliskova in the first round and lost fair and square.

Now she's playing in Asia where she really likes to play as she has already said in the past and hopefully she will do even better than the last couple of years

Madzia beats Ozaki for the second time in her cute career
Up next Mertens and I hope Madzia will fight like versus Anći Konjuh 30 points more will be needed for the nicest polish player

Re: Magda Linette

Magda lost to Svitolina 4-6 5-7 I'm glad she made it competitive though, she used to lose quickly against top players too often in the past. She played a good match and the second set was definitely within her reach, but she just wasted her opportunities (4 break points at 2-1 in the second set including three she lost with UE, and these game points at *5-5 40-15). The way she set up this 5-4 0-30 lead in the second set was just so good, but then she couldn't do anything against Svitolina's comeback.

She made a good FO here Now it's time for rest before grass!

Re: Magda Linette

Magda has reached her very first Grand Slam R3 after good wins over Aliz Lim and 29th seed Ana Konjuh 6-0 7-5 ! Tough task now as she's going to face Elina Svitolina, scheduled tomorrow last on Court PC.
So happy for her already, and best of luck for the next match

She and Konjuh also won their doubles first round but fell short today vs Hradecka/Siniakova in R2.

Re: Magda Linette

Magda's first opponent at the French Open will be WC Aliz Lim; Magda leads 3-0 in their H2H and has never lost a set against her. Fingers crossed for a similar outcome here
