Re: Krista Hardebeck cheering thread

After two consecutive lackluster years, I am afraid to say she's lost her status as an elite player.

Whether she plays one or two, it probably wont matter that much for Stanford in terms of winning team matches.

With Zhao's ascent, all-american status, and latest success at Bank of West, it will be interesting what Forood will base her decision on.

Re: Krista Hardebeck cheering thread

Bumping this thread after a year of inactivity. Krista had a pretty lackluster year in terms of an elite player. It will be interesting to see what spot in the lineup she will assume next year with the Ahn graduating.

Krista is playing some pro events. Lost in the final qualifying round of Carson to Elie. She won her first round in qualifying at the Vancouver 100k today. Interesting that she didn't take a QWC to Stanford, but maybe trying to groove her way into form at the ITF level will be a better experience for her.

Saw her play for stanford. Can't get over how unorthodox every groundstroke is.

Re: Krista Hardebeck cheering thread

So.

Davis passes her by, then Min, now Townsend (whom Hardebeck defeated the last 2 matches)

ah well, hope she does well at Stanford at least..

yup, the hot issue next season is not which team wins NCAA but how the STAN lineup will be made up

?? Honestly though, I'd be surprised if Burdette was dropped below 3rd for her senior year. Stanford wouldn't drop Barte below 1st her senior year even though Gibbs and Ahn were clearly at a higher level, in my opinion.

Krista at her best will swat virtually everybody off the court I've seen the total destruction of Robin Anderson
by Hardebeck at the National. The match was finished real quick And THAT Robin almost won against Capra at NIIC, so...Krista did the same thing to Gibbs until Gibbs changed tactics - slicing and dicing - and made an improbable comeback.

So at their peak
Hardebeck
Gibbs/Ahn (Ahn at her best? she beat Nicole at Ojai and also Sanchez to win it all)
Burdette (she's a scary driver but is inconsistent)
Tan (How can a NCAA finalist play at #5? Only at Stanford )
Tsay (Too bad she'll stay at #6 next season )

And I dunno about Mallory...yeah Lindsay kept her #2 spot too..though she surprised everyone at Georgia NCAA

I think Barte playing #1 was justifiable though. She was one of the best in the nation and I don't think there was a significant level gap with Ahn/Gibbs..but what do I know
