Re: Christina McHale

Christina obviously pulled out of Contrexeville.

Re: Christina McHale

Christina showed mental resolve against Serena that I didn't know she had. She saved so many break points in that match. It was very close and entertaining. She ought to draw on that going forward.

Her next tournament appears to be $100k Contrexeville on clay. A bit of a change!

Re: Christina McHale

I've been following Christina's entire career. This is the best tennis she's played since 2012 when she surged up the rankings. I hope she can sustain this level. She's striking the ball with more authority, especially on that forehand side like she used to do. Since March, she's really brought it. She started to show glimpses in January/February. I remember commenting on her match against Aga that I thought she showed flashes of her solid ball striking, but the consistency wasn't there. And the second serve was awful. I think both the consistency and second serve have improved a lot in the past couple of months. She's on her way back up. It sucks she has to go up against Serena in the next round, but she had a good showing against her last time.

At 24, and with tour players grinding it out longer and longer, she still has room for improvement. She should be a top 50 player no question. At her best, top 30.

Re: Christina McHale

Before there was Sloan or Maddy grabbing the headlines of the next American to succeed the Williams, there was X-tina, being the quiet and soft spoken ambassador.

Although never a threat to be Top 20, she reached her top ranking of #24 in 2012, before mono affected her performance and she's been battling back since.

Her recent play, looks promising and I hope this creates enough momentum for her to have her best year.

Go X-tina and Happy Birthday #24!!!

And she wins! Hits a crosscourt/inside in forehand out of Pliskova's sliding reach.

I'm pleased for her, she seems like such a likeable girl.

Coach comes on. Speaking Spanish to Christina. I don't understand it but I love that Xtina is multilingual. Speaks a little Chinese too.

In Madrid. 4-4. 0-15. An important moment. if Xtina holds here she has a great position to exert pressure on Karo. But she's struggling a little. 15 30. 30-30. 40-30. Deuce. Great hold. 54 up.

Re: Christina McHale

She's doing really well today against Karolina Pliskova. Up 76(3) 32, on serve in the second set. Using her forehand well to attack Pliskova, also handling Pliskova's serve well and hitting some nice defensive shots. Good chance for the upset today.
