She defeated Seguel 2-6 6-0 6-2

Really convincing after that 1st set. Semifinals against Frech now.

She won 6-3 6-0 against Radanovic. That's a more convicing scoreline this time.

2nd seed Seguel now. This'll be a lot tougher

Re: AKGUL! The Gentle Giant's Wildly Enthusiastic Fan Zone

After all those injuries Akgul is still trying to find some of her old form back.
This week she's playing the 25K in Ystad and she just won her first round against Raaholdt from Norway in two sets. Pigossi/Radanovic next.
Good Luck.

Akgul did play in 50K Tianjin, but lost in the first round in both singles and doubles.

This week she entered qualifying for the 50K in Brescia, Italy, but fell in Q3 to 3rd seed Julia Grabher. Oh, well, good luck to her in doubles.

Akgul and Honcova lost the final to the 4-seeds, Xun and You, in a super tiebreak. Oh, well, still a promising week. Hope there's more good news to come in singles and doubles this year. She's playing another 50K in China this coming week, DE into main draw.

Akgul fell in the QFs in 3 sets to Aleksandrina Naydenova. But she did advance to the doubles final.

Akgul's still around, guys. 31 years old now, ranked 371, as everyone knows she has really struggled with injury the last few years. She played only Fed Cup -- in doubles -- between last December and April of this year, but finally, this week, she's having a good run in the 50K in Zhengzhou, China. She's into the singles QF, having knocked out the 2nd seed in the first round. She'll also be playing the doubles SF with Michaela Honcova.

By the way, her ITF page states that her current coach is none other than "Myself".

Re: AKGUL! The Gentle Giant's Wildly Enthusiastic Fan Zone

Akgul played in the Contrexeville 100K in France this week using her Protected Ranking of 161. But the draw was unkind:

Patricia MAYR-ACHLEITNER (AUT) [3] def. Akgul AMANMURADOVA (UZB) 6-1 7-5

So glad she's playing, though.

Good to hear I thought Akgul might have disappeared again, with the same elbow injury. Seeing how active she’s been April/May, is just as encouraging as the 25k win.
