Vamos Monica!!
You have a point there, but Broady is also a big-server and Monica found a way to beat her. Lisicki is in a much higher level than Broady though.

That's what I noted. I think this has been her highest since I've been following her. She also won more than 60% of points with both her 1st and 2nd serve. In my opinion, she has quite a good chance against Sabine, but let's see which Sabine appears tomorrow on court...

Sabine defeated Monica last year pretty easily on the French, but Monica is playing much better now than last year, so the match should be way closer. It'll be very tough, but also a very winnable match for Monica. The best of luck, girl!

Another great win for Monica, as she beats Broady 3-6 6-3 6-3!

She was down 3-6 3-3 and with 0/10 on BPs, after that, she was on the driving seat

Great win today after being on the same situation as yesterday's match and was able to close it out in the third.

Tomorrow against Broady for a spot in the MD!

I was disappointed that she lost that match to Kuzzy, specially since those close matches are still a problem for Monica to close out.

However, Monica is playing good tennis. This version of Monica is way better that last year.

Re: Puerto Rican hope Monica Puig

it was Prague, not Warsaw

yes, it's a shame she lost that match , she really (should have won imo) ... but it allows her to play Madrid and win points this week too let's see the positive

Re: Puerto Rican hope Monica Puig

Mo just won QR1 in Madrid...First serve effectiveness 75% WOW!!!...This is a career high for her and it is impressive...Seems that Mr Todero is having a positive impact in her game...On the down side, IMHO she had the Kutznetsova match won in Warsaw. It was a disappointing outcome of that match. Also, it is remarkable that Kutznetsova could not play v Stosur today and Mo took a plane to Madrid, played her match in less than 24 hrs since getting of the court in Warsaw, and won...Let's see how far Mo is able to go in Madrid.

Monica had her chances leading 6-4 3-1*, but Sveta is a tough cookie, specially on clay, so I'm happy for her. She eventually lost 6-4 5-7 4-6. Now onto Madrid!

Re: Puerto Rican hope Monica Puig

it should be a more competitive match on clay. Also, Monica was tired in Sydney.

Mónica took out Krejcikova 6-4 6-4 to reach the QFs!

Now revenge time against Sveta!
