Re: Juniors

just wanted to get back to the Tim Essonne tournament results and talk about a promising french junior tennis player

her name is Flavie Brugnone she is born in 2003 and reached the 1/4 final there. Anaelle Leclercq reached the SF too but Flavie was in QF leading 6-2 *5-4 against russian kudermetova (4) (made SF at les Petits As). Flavie had a tough injury in her Achille heel and couldnt move only on one leg.
Flavie trains in south of France and at 13 years old she's already havin a quality physical train. She's tall and likes to make physical training.

Flavie has a personal youtube channel where she post her training exercices. She looks very serious and determined.

a french junior to watch imo. Wish her good luck and to all the french juniors; we need more good juniors to have a futur at the top of the game.

Re: Juniors

Thank you for the pics

I just saw that Maelys Bougrat was coached by Julie Coin and Pierre Cherret, that's very positif for her imo

at such a young age (14) it is crucial to have good entourage who will make you work on your game, weaknesses

Re: Juniors

love the fact Emilie Loit is their captain, always liked her and her game, she's also very diplomatic too, she knows how to talk

It would be great for Giulia to be coached by such talented former lefty, she would learn much

Re: Juniors

U16 French Team (Loudmilla Bencheikh, Yasmine Mansouri & Giulia Morlet) played the U16 Winter Cup finals last week-end in Brest: they beat Turkey 2-1 in R1 (Loulou d. Betina Tokac, 6-4 6-7(5) 6-1; Yas lt. Zynep Erman, 6-7(1) 1-6; Yas & Giu d. Comlek/Erman, 2 & 3), but they fell 0-3 to the eventual champions Italy in SF (Giu lt. Federica Sacco, 5-7 6-3 2-6; Yas lt. Federica Rossi, 2 & 4; Loulou & Yas lt. Biagianti/Rossi, 0 & 4 ), and they lost the bronze medal tie 0-3 to Russia yesterday (Loulou lt. Kamilla Rakhimova, 6-7(0) 4-6; Giu lt. Alina Charaeva, 0 & 3 ; Loulou & Yas lt. Charaeva/Rakhimova, 6-1 4-6 [4-10] ) - so they eventually ranked 4th out of 8.

Re: Juniors

well I spoke to many personns, some worked themself with the fft and they said how incompetent they are, especially when it is about girls formation

the best players are the one who work with "private structure". The fact is today, the concurrence is very big, it is tougher to become an elite player
you have to make a lot sacrifices and invest time, money, things that all our french girls cant do. You have to be very determined to become a top player.

I do think Garcia can reach top ranking but the fact she sticks to her dad and keep doing wrong, not improving the way she should is something very frustrating.Dodin has the same probleme, her dad thinks he must stay her coach and despise the fft.

Not having a single junior in AO is a shame!big shame on french tennis.FFT sucks.

Re: Juniors

Well, I guess it's from mentality here in France? Tennis tour is not easy to go, and I guess some daddy are affraid to let their girl go without them. Some girls are more independant, but not all.

Re: Juniors

Right, but why the difference with men?? Why would the structure be different? That's what I don't understand.

Re: Juniors

I am really asking myself about structure for girls. We are specialists in France, with girls-ladies trained by daddy who does not want to leave them... and i guess that's why they do not succeed for now. Our talented girls-ladies are with daddy, and our not-so-much talented are with real structure. Guess where is the issue.

Re: Juniors

The 2017 AO Junior draw is out and there is not ONE French girl in the draw, vs 4 or 5 French boys. I just don't understand how a country like France fails to produce any champion on the ladies side.
We once had Pierce, Tauziat, Halard, Testud, Mauresmo all in the top 10. Now, we can't produce a single top 20 player. Our two 93' girls have seemed to reach a plateau, Cornet has a lot of heart but has limitations, Parmentier also has limitations in her game, and Dodin, who, as promising as she is, is still a bit too much of a ball basher.
FIVE players in the top 100, and the rest is so far behind. In the years 2000's, not only did we have the top players mentioned above, but we also had promising up and comers in Bartoli, Razzano, Rezai and Golovin, who met different fortunes as we know, and a bunch of solid top 100 players like Dechy, Loit, and even Foretz, Pin and Cohen-Aloro.
In comparison, on the men's side, there are 12 French players in the top 100, and almost half of them are well inside the top 30.
Can anyone please explain this lack of results on the ladies' side???

Re: Juniors

Lucie Wargnier suddenly reappeared this week at G3 Saint-Cyprien (she hadn't played any official tournament for exactly a year ), where she took a MWC and she reached the final: she beat qualifier Maria Aran Teixido Garcia 6-7(1) 6-3 6-1 in R1, lucky loser Chloé Cirotte (who routined 5th seed Heath in R1) 6-1 7-6(3) in R2, 2nd seed Merel Hoedt (Top 200) 6-3 0-6 6-1 in QF, and Giulia Morlet 6-4 4-6 7-6(6) in SFs, before falling to Manon Léonard 2 & 3 in the final

Does anybody know why she was out for so long (injuries, I suppose)? She struggled against the younger girls this week, but it's her first tournament in ages after all, hopefully she's fine and will find her previous level again
