Re: Misaki Doi Cheering Thread!

Misaki Doi lost today to her good friend and doubles partner Kurumi Nara - 6-7(1), 2-6. They're actually moving on on the doubles tournament as the Japanese team defeated the No.1 seeds Kops-Jones/Spears by 7-5, 6-4. So, here are some photos from their dubs match. 🇯🇵

Google translate isn't great, but it's still readable.

Spencer. Do you have a link to her blog?

Re: Misaki Doi Cheering Thread!

I don't know, I'm glad Misaki took the break after Wimbledon and didn't play Istanbul/Baku like Kurumi did. Kurumi didn't win matches AND got injured for Cinci/New Haven. I kinda like how her schedule shows she wants to play the better players, especially now that she seems comfortably in the top-100. She should mix in some smaller tournaments next year when the schedule is right, but with her level of play right now I think her schedule is fine.

Nice to see her blog wasn't too depressing, seems she will bounce back alright.

Re: Misaki Doi Cheering Thread!

Not only is Misaki a choker, but she also doesn't know how to schedule.

She's worked so hard to get back into the Top 100 and would've made the MDs of Tashkent and Tianjin, yet she's not on either list. I'm guessing she's going to play Wuhan and Hong Kong qualies. She should learn a thing or two from Kurumi about scheduling.

Spencer. Really bad choke from Misaki. She fought hard in final set after a big choke but she played all the important points really badly

Spencer. Misaki is going to have to seriously raise her level in order to make it competitive. Lets hope she can do it!

Re: Misaki Doi Cheering Thread!

Misaki gets a QR1 win over Aleks Krunic 60 62!! Aleks made US Open R4 last year, losing to Azarenka in 3 sets. So this is a big win!

She's got 5 qualies win from Stanford to Toronto to this win today.

She faces Ana Konjuh in FQR, whom she just beat 62 76 last week in Toronto! But courts play different in Cincy so will be a tough battle for sure. Let's hope Misaki gets another win

Re: Misaki Doi Cheering Thread!

good job Misaki, making the most of a nice 1strd.. hope She gives Aga a good match.

Spencer. I wonder why she didn't try and defend doubles title in Istanbul.

Stanford always has really weak qualifying so I'm happy she got through. Got the best Q spot and won.

Nothing to lose vs. Aga for sure! Just no bakery products

Re: Misaki Doi Cheering Thread!

Misaki won 63 76(3). Nice she pulled it out but she doesn't seem fully confident right now, which she will need to be against Radwanska next.

Anyway, she got 80 ranking points for defeating 3 players outside top-150 this week, hopefully she feels like she has nothing to lose playing Aga.
