I guess the yenta is a major celeb now, obviously cuz of her Dubai defiance.

But what did Avy Grant achieve to be beside her? Chelsea under him was a fail (didn't win the premiership or any other shit for that matter).

What a great honor for Shahar. I'm extremely proud of the way she has been able to handle the tough situations thrown her way as of late and turn something negative into something positive. Kadima Shahar.

Shahar Peer leading "The march of Living" in Auschwitz concentration camp today

Shahar Peer and Avram Grant join international dignitaries at Auschwitz

Shahar Pe'er will be joined by her mother, Aliza Pe'er, and her grandmother Yuliana Eckstein, who spent more than six months at the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. "I am very excited," said Pe'er. "For me, to lead the March as an Israeli and as the granddaughter of a survivor, is an experience I will never forget. My grandmother debated for a long time whether she should participate [in the March], afraid that it would be too hard for her. But I am very glad that she decided [to come] in the end. I know it will be an extraordinary experience for myself, my mother and grandmother."

Top-ranked Israel’s tennis champion Shahar Peer will help lead the March of the Living on Monday at the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland.

Peer, who will be accompanied at the March of the Living by her grandmother – a survivor of Auschwitz –, has inspired Israelis and Jews around the world, lauded especially for her success playing in countries hostile to Israel and Jews.

She competed recently in the Dubai Open under tight security restrictions, isolated from fellow participants during most of the tournament.

“We can think of few greater ambassadors to convey the spirit of Jewish life and survival in our era than Shahar Peer, and we are proud to have her march with us this year,” said Shmuel Rosenman, Chairman of the International March of the Living.

“Her remarkable accomplishments, always imbued with a sense of humility and dignity, show the world that despite all the Nazis tried to extinguish in the Holocaust, they spectacularly failed.”

Avram Grant, one of Israel’s most accomplished soccer coaches who today manages the British club of Portsmouth Club will be at Peer's side.

He previously managed the Chelsea team. “Avram has made his mark at the highest level, serving as a source of intense pride and inspiration for Jews everywhere,” Dr. Rosenman said. Grant, an Advisory board Member of MOTL, will be attending personal tribute to his father, a Holocaust survivor who died recently.

Other dignitaries scheduled to attend the March alongside 10,000 students from around the world will be Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv Israel Meir Lau and Natan Sharansky, Chairman of the Jewish Agency, a renowned human rights advocate, Israeli Knesset members, and ministers.

A dramatic visual moment will occur as the 10,000 participants open their march by streaming through the recently stolen—and recovered—"Work Makes Free" sign atop the gates of Auschwitz, proclaiming the theme: "Denying History Will Lead to its Repetition."
