Yeah, I didn't mind it when it happened in some small tournament.

But again? At a slam? Out of 96 girls? What are the odds?

And it's not like one of them is a Romanian I care less about... they're sort of competing from my Romanian Fave #2.

And it's not like one of them is a Romanian who wouldn't have won QR1 anyway. They both have what it takes (injury aside) to get through the qualies and into the MD.

VERY FRUSTRATING this time.

GL to Ana at the FO, after having missed it last year. Current ranked #106, just off her career high of #105.

Is 1-0 against Alex.

Re: Ana Bogdan

Lost to Ahn in the 2nd round. That makes her #105 now and only Hogenkamp can still pass this week if she wins the tournament (which is looking very likely).

$60,00 Saint-Gaudens (FRA)
R16: Kristie Ahn (USA) d. (3)Ana Bogdan (ROU) 61 67(6) 76(4)

Won her first match 61 26 63... also Kovinic and Chang lost... so she's #104 now in the live

Re: Ana Bogdan

I saw she'll be 106 but I thought the deadline is next week. You are right tho, still one week to go... but she looks in good shape to make it, hopefully she has a bit of good luck and the results go her way this week

Re: Ana Bogdan

@Not A Fan : She'll be #106 tomorrow. There's still one week to go, with 4 countable tournaments.

That's why I said about needing points. Fingers crossed .

Madrid qualies are hard when you're not seeded. Her biggest chance would have been if Sorana would have made the MD. Then that WC would have been hers. Maybe just 1-2 good wins for Sori during the year and she could have had the needed points to get in.

Correct.

But she made Madrid Q without a WC after all. Didn't change and wouldn't have changed a thing either way you think about it. Hibino (#81) was the last seeded in Q.

Next is Rome Q if she gets in (pretty far right now) or St. Gaudens $60k ITF in France if she doesn't. Needs some points badly.

Also what puzzled me a little (more) was the withdrawal from Indian Harbour Beach $80k ITF where she could have secured a Roland Garros MD spot. Now she'll play qualies ...

As for the match, I didn't know she was so close to win the 1st set as well. I hope takes some time to think about it and figure out what went wrong there. I don't care how good Brady played. You just don't lose so many points in a row.

Re: Ana Bogdan

Argh Ana... What happened in that 2nd set TB to lose it to 0? Did you give up?

Lost to Brady 7-6(5) 7-6(0).
