Misa Try and do something different with your points for Wimbledon! Tammy's good form continues

Don't get why the former Wimbledon champions are so desperate to have a match-up with me?
Maybe it's a sign Misa's popular.

You are, I consider, at least in this season since you're No. 7 in the race.

Krajicek - Fourth Time Lucky In Wimbledon

Just when everyone is starting to count her out from the favourite or even the contender lists for Wimbledon title, Michaella Krajicek of the Netherlands shows that she has still got it when she finally joins the list of elite players by winning her first grand slam title at SW19 after been in the tour for 4 seasons, beating surprising finalist Nicole Vaidisova of Czech Republic 4-6, 7-6(6), 7-6(6) in the longest Wimbledon final ever at 3 hours and 37 minutes (topping the previous record from Season 2 by 24 minutes).

The No. 5 ranked Dutchwoman arrived at London, hoping to do well again after an almost disastrous season yet. Krajicek had surprised herself and the whole tennis world, claiming the YEC title, beating all her opponents at the end of last season. However, things didn't go well despite that success. She started her season with a 6 match losing streak (which eventually ended at Strasbourg) and so far only reached one final at Strasbourg and a semifinal at Birmingham most recently.

The former Wimbledon finalist had been given the toughest draw on any slams so far. She was placed in the same quarter as No. 1 and heavy favourite Alicia Molik, along with grass court specialists Magdalena Rybarikova, former champion Tamarine Tanasugarn and Venus Williams. Not to mention that Australian Open winner Lindsay Davenport, reigning Wimbledon champion Flavia Pennetta and the ever wasted tennis star Britney Spears are in the following quarter of the same half. With the extremely difficult draw, even Krajicek herself doubted whether she would ever have the chance to cross the finishing line in a slam for the first time.

After a first round bye, she was set to meet Rybarikova who has beaten her twice in a row at Down Under earlier in the season as a newcomer. The Slovakian, considered as a dark horse in Wimbledon, defeated the elder Williams sister to play Krajicek for the third time this season. Despite being 0-2 against Rybarikova, that didn't seem to affect her as the fifth seed cruise to a 6-3, 6-3 win to start off her Wimbledon campaign in just over an hour.

In the quarterfinals, she faced the hottest favourite - former Australian Open champion Molik for the sixth time. The quarterfinal match-up is most anticipated match-up on Centre Court. Molik had defeated former Wimbledon winner Tanasugarn in a routine straight sets win in the previous rounds, and also dominated the whole grass court season, reaching final at Birmingham and remained unbeaten in the s'-Hertogenbosch and Eastbourne. After a an hour and 53 minutes of battle, Krajicek eventually came out on top, winning her opponent in straight sets 6-2, 7-6(6). This win not only extends her lead in the H2H to 4-2, but also extends her perfect record (not even losing a set) against Molik on grass(4-0; 8-0).

With the emphatic victory, Krajicek advanced into her fourth straight Wimbledon semifinals (only bested by Molik's four consecutive finals in Melbourne). This time her opponent was none-other-than reigning Wimbledon champion and Birmingham winner Flavia Pennetta. The 4th seeded Italian came into the tour by storm, claiming the title in her debut slam event, as well as Olympic champion not long after. Despite not as impressive as last season, she is still the favourite after Molik and will try to become the second player yet to defend a major title since Kim Clijsters at Paris. After an almost 3 hour long match, the Dutchwoman prevailed in 7-6(6), 4-6, 7-6(2) as she saved 3 set points in the first set and also a match point in the third set against the defending champion, avenging her loss in Birmingham semifinal a few weeks before. She is now 2-1 against the Italian.

After two seasons, she is back into Wimbledon final, a stage in which serves a lot of memories for the 20 year old. Krajicek had been defeated by the-now-retired Frenchwoman Amelie Mauresmo in a 3 set thriller two seasons ago. Luckily for Krajicek, her opponent in the final was not Mauresmo again but a young and promising talent, Vaidisova. Vaidisova surprised everyone, becoming the winner from the bottom half after a couple of amazing wins over Marion Bartoli of France and also crowd favourite Maria Kirilenko. Despite grass not being a favourite for Vaidisova, her big serve and strong baseline game certainly is a perfect combination on the surface.

Krajicek started slow as she immediately trailed 0-5 in the first set. Despite a good fight, Vaidisova is too a little too strong at the end, winning the set 6-4. The second set was more competitive as both players held serves and trying to break each other's service game with some amazing baseline rallies at times. Krajicek broke her opponent first and was serving for the set but she failed to do so and soon later, Vaidisova broke back and was 2 points away from the championship. However, the reiging YEC winner didn't want her dream to be broken so soon again and pushed the set to a tiebreak. Both managed to hold serve and once again Krajicek found herself serving to stay in the match when she was serving at 5-6. With a dropshot winner to save the second championship point, she eventually held and got the only mini-break in the tiebreak, which also led her to claim the set 7-6(6). In the decisive set, Krajicek once again dug a huge hole for herself as she was trailing 4 games in a row. However, she showed her grit by staging another comeback to win 5 games in a row. Another tiebreak was needed to eventually determine the winner and it was Krajicek who had her luck at the end, winning the championship with a blazing crosscourt forehand winner.

"This is such an unbelievable moment. I'm just so thrilled to finally win my first slam title which I have been dreaming of since I joined the tour. Words cannot describe much how this huge win means to me. All I can say after four seasons of dedication, determination and hard work, my effort paid off. This will be be my best tournament win for sure. I'm just in awe even myself how I could even get past this tough draw, especially winning against heavy favourites for the title like Alicia and Flavia in a row. It's certainly not bad to say deserve this win more than anybody else. The loss two years ago motivated me to give myself another shot while my abysmal performances since then also demotivate me. I have thought to myself whether I should continue or not after all the bad or early losses and even more the lack of drive to play tennis. I was barely a top 20 player since last season in spite of a couple of good wins. Anyway, at the end, I was proved that my decision to stay is right. Thanks to all who supported me and those who didn't as well. I certainly have enjoyed my week and hopefully I can add another slam under my belt although that might seem impossible. Who knows what will happen."

Krajicek is now back to No. 4 in the rankings. She has not been lower than No. 6 in the rankings since Wimbledon back in Season 1. Besides, she now leaps 12 places from No. 16 to No. 4 in the singles race with the Wimbledon title-run and is now 13-3 in SW19 and is 33-13 on grass overall.

Great match Nicole with one ace. Very bright future and I know a slam's gonna come soon for you.

Thanks Dav for everything.

Also thanks to those haters out there.

Just remember I won YEC and a slam now. Both my wins I beat very good players (top 8 or with 4 aces)..

BTW, I also won 5 TBs in a row in my last 3 matches (8 sets in total).
