ATP Houston (Green Clay) after 2000:

2007 Ivo Karlovic
2006 Mardy Fish
2005 Andy Roddick
2004 Tommy Haas
2003 Andre Agassi
2002 Andy Roddick
2001 Andy Roddick

Despite fact that green clay is still more similar with red cay than medium HC clean difference in comparation with europian red clay exist.

I think Charleston is the best indicator of who will win the French Open, and it's played on green clay.

Elena is way better at hardcourts and Venus and Amelie at all other surfaces.

I choose list of XXI century winners of Amelia and ATP Houston because that will present better my point about red/green difference. Tournament where is in this century most successifull player Lindsay Davenport or Andy Roddick is simple inpossible at red clay - but at green clay that is happen with AI and HOU.

BTW fastest RED CLAY surface is Rome... this difference is realy not so big, but even that is enough to make list of Rome winners "different" in comparation with RG and Berlin where "claycourt specialists" almost always dominate.

That's not a fair analysis. Venus, Amelie, Elena and Nadia are (or were) excellent clay courters. Green clay is a bit faster and easier to adapt to than a red one, but we have to take into account that many good clay courters are skipping this eveny. None from the upper echalon played here this year...

Green clay is like a hard court with a thin layer of firt sprinkled on it. It's sort of like a very slow hard court. It not very slidable.
