Didn't she create something of a "comeback fuss" last year in England, when she was young? 😑

No way she'll even see the grounds at the $100K events, but she is defending a few points from $10K events last year in England and one in France, iirc.

If she has any sense at all she'll play only $10K and $15K events, because that's where her competition-level is located.

If she somehow, quite miraculously, got on a roll, she might even win a tiny event, which would be a moral victory, at least.

But even in these $10K events, the teenage novices and Sexy's fellow desperate veterans are scrappy, and hungry, and can beat her, as evidenced last year.

Sexy sure loves to spend money on travel.

Sharapova is gunning for Alex's record that she set in 1999's Wimbledon...

Surely she's not just going to Spain for 1 or 2 tournaments. Maybe this is the European 10k tour that happened last year. I think she knows she needs to avoid the American events. She surely must have a sponsor or several to fund such travel.
Yeah, but honestly, who would sponsor her?

Who in their right mind would just throw the two or three thousand dollars it takes to simply fly to Spain and play the qualifying of a 25K?

Not a WTA event. Not a seeded position in a $75K or a $100K.

But the lousy qualifying of a $25K.

In Spain, no less.

Some of the younger, more "happening" ITF upstarts can still charm some travel-$$$ out of bored old businessmen, but Stevenson??!?

Even her father can't afford to fly to San Diego, and then Mexico, and then Charleston, and then Spain on a mere whim, anymore.

If she gets to Europe again in her life, it'll be by canoe, with the Mother paddling relentlessly.

We saw her name on the qually line-up in Charlottesville, VA, and we know what happened there (didn't even show up to play.)

I highly doubt she'll just tumble into town, in Manzon, Spain, to scrub a dead-end, silent, nose-picking, inconsequential qually match for a $25K event that'll bore an entire nation before it even begins.

She's out of her tree.

Oh, Sexy! Come to the LORD!

Take your "road money" and buy a business suit. Go on a few job interviews to country clubs. Get a job as a teaching pro for $50,000 a year. It'll be TEN TIMES more than you lose each year by perpetuating this ghastly charade.

The time will come: they will literally be living under a bridge. Her and Mumsy.

^ Nope. Oh, my. The 16 year-old Estonian dismissed Sexy in straights: 4 and 4.

Give it UP, Sexy.

Open a hot-dog wagon in front of Costco.

Borrow some money and invest in a gas-station.

Anything.

(And get this: she pulled out of a $25K next week in Naples, Florida to *supposedly* play qualifying in a $25K hard court event in Monzon, SPAIN.

Because flights to Spain are so cheap these days. Sexy: defying all logic.)

Re: Alex Stevenson's Chat Thread. (!!!)

She's actually not as bad on clay as she makes herself out to be. The surface forces her to construct points and is good for her game, at this very late point in time. Clay is easier on her body and it's more difficult for opponents to hit outright winners against her. I don't know why she avoids clay. She had a spate of fairly decent ITF clay results a few years back, using a slice backhand and such.

Lord knows why she is even still subjecting herself to any of this. 11 years of nothing really memorable, spent in the bush leagues.

As I said before, she reminds me of amateur surfers who bum around the country and the world, catching waves and doing their thing, and suddenly waking up at 50 and finding themselves with leathery, sun-damaged skin, living hand-to-mouth, eating tuna fish sandwiches, and wondering how they got there.

She's going to need financial security at a very real & specific point in her life. Everyone does. People really do wake up one day and find they've fallen through the proverbial cracks and disappeared.

Even a job working in a pro shop would be more productive, and make her life more secure, than this perrennial waste of time. I mean, she can't even win the $10K events. Not even one.

But ... to each their own. I get the sense that maybe she enjoys the travel and kind of bumming around the ITFs, at this point, win or lose.

If so, then good for her. Travel can always be an adventure. But itinerant, gyspy lifstyles have their consequences.

Surely she should have the experience to beat the young Estonian. But some of these kids are very good and very hungry.

Alex has decided to grace the clay with her presence this upcoming week in Charleston $60,000 Qualifing.

She plays 16yo WC Maileen Nuudi from Estonia in the opening round.

Priority 1 is the $25,000 event in Spain. :/ She's 64th ALT. But it's still weird.

Maybe she's saving her pennies for another tour of $10Ks in England, seeing as she's got so many grass ITF titles. 🙄
I thought the other day maybe she was preparing to go back to England for the $50K Events like she did last year. But then I checked the ITF website and they've all been bumped up to $100,000 events. So she would be nowhere near the qualifying draw.

She needs to get out of the USA if she wants to win MD matches, which I believe she would know... her last win in a MD in the USA was August 2015 when she beat Hiroko Kuwata.

So I hope she can get over to Europe for the 10ks sometime.
