bubble I must say that it turned out to be a smart tactical move by Shamil T. With a strong #2 player like Nadia, at least it takes some pressure off from Elena D. Nadia has really impressed many with her power game and strong serve as well as her doubles versatility skills.
And judging from the post-match comments by Nadia and Elena, they are preferring to face Belgium instead of Spain.
All I want to say is All the best Team Russia!!!

the cat The Russians got lucky with Petrova. She has saved the Russian team. Elena D. can't carry them alone. Can she? Udachi Russia! I hope Russia upsets Belgium! I hope the day off helps.

ys OK, we can discuss it all we want, but with the selected team we got great, fighting chance to win the whole thing, and we got a good #2, finally..

Go girls, make us proud!

auntie janie ys,

oh I guess you are right, it doesn't make sense -- I guess I will have to wait till it is underway and see who I end up rooting for!

In the end, I will probably root for individual players such as Justine ane Elena D., and whatever country wins, i will probably be really happy, because I like almost all of the participating players.

ys Janie, dear, Nat won't play singles in Fed Cup, and she won't retire in doubles, so that makes very little sense..

auntie janie I forgot to look here till today -- am very surprised at the makeup of the team!

But good luck to them. though it feels strange to cheer on a team that leaves out LINA.

Anyway I will have now to depart from this Fed Cup cheering thread, to root for the French team, for the sentimental reason of Nat's retirement.

AU REVOIR, my Russian Friends!

May the best team win!

TheBoiledEgg Thats what he said , I asked him how she was and she's fine

then I asked him if she's going to Bangkok next week and he said she will be playing with the FED CUP next week

they always have a reserve .

Nadya is now on the list for Pattaya ???????

ys You mean, she won't play Pattaya? Interesting..

Perhaps, every team MUST have a substitute that can be used if someone gets injured.

And Elena can now go and join her teammates in the last ditch effort to save the season from being a failure.

TheBoiledEgg I just came back from Bolton , met Artem Derapasko and he says Anastasia will be with the FED CUP team next week .

TheBoiledEgg A bit of a disagreement and plus she was left out of the 2nd singles match , didn't go down too well .

ys What happened in July, besides her losing one match? Did she have a fight with Larisa and Shamil?
Oct 29th, 2001 06:00 PM
TheBoiledEgg Bovina has been picked cos its on clay , that is her best surface and she also has just won 2 doubles titles in last two weeks

disappointed with Lina not being chosen but i kinda new it was coming after what happened in July.
