Re: Cindy Burger

Cindy reached the semi's in Essen with a good 62 75 win today against Maria Sakkari who is ranked #114

Yesterday she played two matches, beating (wc)Kislyak and Lottner in straight sets. Already a good 29 points this week Still moving up the rankings slowly but steady

Now against against a player who is turning into her angstgegner if she doesn't win a match soon, Sara Sorribes Tormo. 0-3 in H2H of which two matches this year where she won 4 and 6 games respectively.

Next week she's playing 50k Ilkley on grass as preparation for Wimbledon Q. Cindy has only played one match on grass in her career in believe though (last year in Wimbledon Q1), so I'm not getting my hopes up

Re: Cindy Burger

Cindy reached the QF by a retirement, lost in two tough sets to Jesika Malečková.

Next tournament should be 50k Essen. Hope the weather will be better than it were in Brescia.

Re: Cindy Burger

Cindy won her first round at 50k Brescia 64 67(11) 64 over Myrtille Georges who reached R2 at the French.

Cindy missed 7 matchpoints in the second set but came back to win, well done! Mentally so tough.

Re: Cindy Burger

Tough, but not a bad draw for Q2 right?

Re: Cindy Burger

Earlier this month Cindy played 2 ITF clay court tournaments in the USA, but lost in both in the 1st round

Back in Europe on the red clay. She is playing RG Q.
Defeated Reix (WTA 212) 6-2 6-3.
2nd round against Vickery. Will be tough I think

Cindy lost 57 26

In other news, Haarhuis has called her up for the Fed Cup team against France.

Re: Cindy Burger

Yes, shame for Samantha I read she had her hand in a cast.

I think Cindy will get points, it's the same as if someone withdrew on her in a R2 main draw match. Only if it's your first match do you risk losing points.

Cindy plays Vesnina tomorrow.

Sad for Samantha
Obviously not the way she wanted to qualify, but a good win in Q1 and nice experience playing in MD here.

Re: Cindy Burger

She's still on the list for Dothan week after Fed Cup (she's withdrawn from Pelham though). Plus it sems like the Dutch had some info a lot of people would leave qualies in Charleston (Lesley was also 14th out at one point) and there's good points on offer.

I suspect Crawford will be too strong but a nice win over Cepede

Re: Cindy Burger

Cindy won her Q1 match in Charleston 64 26 75 against Veronica Cepede Royg which is a good win

I wonder what her plan is though, she's playing here in Charleston but Fed Cup is coming up so I guess she's just playing one tournament on this trip because she got in here? Well at least she's won a round now FQR against Crawford.
