Yesterday, Eleonora Molinaro won the 25th Torneo Internazionale Città di Prato, an ITF junior grade 2 tournament.

Her 7th junior title, and the biggest so far.

mauritsolei How come that Claudine Schaul is still playing FedCup? She even took jakupovic to a tiebreak... I suppose she isn't playing that badly then... she could have a good career if not for injuries and cocaine

Re: ~Luxembourg Tennis~

Play off: Slovenia - Luxembourg 2/0

Dalila JAKUPOVIC (WTA 134) - Claudine SCHAUL 6/1, 7/6
Tamara ZIDANSEK (WTA 139) - Eleonora MOLINARO 4/6, 7/5, 6/2

Mandy Minella didn't play, due to an abdominal muscle injury. So this was impossible to win for Luxembourg.

Very good scorelines for the girls though, given the rankings of their opponents.

Eleonora had a fantastic week, winning 3 matches (2 against higher ranked players) and taking a set off a Top200 player.

If Mandy hadn't been injured, Luxembourg could have been promoted.

Egypt - Luxembourg 2 - 1

Ola ABOU ZEKRY (WTA 614) - Eleonora MOLINARO 5/7, 0/6
Sandra SAMIR (WTA 450) - Mandy MINELLA 1/0 ret
Sandra SAMIR/Rana SHERIF AHMED - Tiffany CORNELIUS / Claudine SCHAUL 3/6, 6/4, 6/4

Terrible result, although Lux still manages to qualify for the playoff, despite having lost 2 of their 3 encounters, thanks to the number of matches won.

I don't know why Mandy retired after just one game.

And why didn't Eleonora play doubles? She's obviously a much better singles player than Tiffany and plays doubles on the ITF circuit.

Anyway, now the question is can Mandy play tomorrow? Luxembourg can only beat Slovenia with her.

Wow, I spoke too early. Mandy loses to Barritza 2/6, 6/7

Fed Cup, Group II Europe/Africa, Group B - Luxembourg - Denmark

Eleonora Molinaro bt Emilie Francati (WTA 679) 6/3, 3/6, 6/1

A great win for Eleonora, which will probably give the victory to Luxembourg, as Mandy Minella plays the second singles match against Karen Barritza (WTA 396)

Re: ~Luxembourg Tennis~

Round-robin basis. Two pools of 4 teams (Pools A & B).

The winner of each pool will play-off against the number two team in the other pool (A1 v B2 and B1 v A2) to determine which two nations will advance to Europe/Africa Zone Group I in 2018.

In the relegation play-offs, the teams that finished third in each pool will play-off against the nation finishing fourth in the other pool (A3 v B4 and A4 v B3). The two losers will be relegated to Europe/Africa Zone Group III for 2018

Two promoted.
Two relegated.
