Tough draw. Laura did upset Madison at Charleston, but I doubt she'll repeat that effort on this surface.

Still gluck to her!

Re: Laura Siegemund

normally no chance for Laura here but maybe she is able to play better tennis again in a match in which she is the clear underdog.
I guess she will try to play aggressive with serve and volley but it will be tough for her to get into the rallies at all, Keys has a strong serve, Laura herself often struggles with her serve, we´ll see, good luck anyway!

Re: Laura Siegemund

She was flying from Mallorca to Eastbourne together with ALF yesterday but she still withdrew today, I guess/hope she is just too tired to play.
Hopefully a good draw at Wimbledon!

Stimmt natürlich beides.

Especially on grass it's obvious that she has not so much time and so makes more UE btw cannot get easily in the right position for her dropshots

But when she's able to deal with it better why shouldn't she be able to keep a solid level, not necessarily the Stuttgart one, but showing off at internationals here and there should be possible for Laura.

Re: Laura Siegemund

I think Stuttgart was an exemption
Everything was perfect there. Laura was completely on fire there
Her level there was EXTREMELY high. It was clear that this high level could not last
The surface (clay) suited her. Stuttgart was her home tournament. And Laura had NOTHING to lose

Now Laura has arrived in normal WTA play
In many matches Laura is now the favourite, and not anymore the underdog
That means more pressure, more stress. Laura is more tight now. You saw that at Mallorca

And grass does suit Laura MUCH less than clay

Re: Laura Siegemund

Very disappointing loss for Laura ...
But at least she got a win ... hopefully in Eastbourne she can get a nice draw and start to gain some confidence again.

Re: Laura Siegemund

Unfortunately she's lost all her confidence. Strange coaching with Rittner before serving for the match, she didn't seem to be convinced to win this although she was break ahead.

Re: Laura Siegemund

67 63 57

I couldn´t watch it but Laura was break ahead in 1st set and twice in 3rd set + served for the match at *54, shouldn´t have lost that one for sure, mentally not strong enough in this one

Re: Laura Siegemund

Many ups and downs in her match but she got the win in the end at least, good for her confidence for sure.
Cepede Royg next, who already won 4 matches here on grass, hope that Laura can beat her as well!

WTA Mallorca R1

(7)Laura Siegemund (GER)
d. Nao Hibino (JPN) 76(1) 64

First win for her since Madrid?

Edit: Oh, it was Nürnberg. Still, good that she won a match again.
