But Katka is still moving up in ranking. N. 10 and N. 20 in race.

Now Czechia has 6 players in TOP 20.

oh yeah. I forgot that the WTA plays the Sunshine Double based on one week of rankings in early March. It's kinda ridiculous that the results from a PM don't pay any dividends at the next PM.

She's also wearing a really cute pair of shorts. It's her best kit of the season, imo.

Katka was in control until she lost serve while ahead at 4-3. She immediately broke back, failed to close it out, broke again, and finally won the match on a ridiculous moonball rally that CSN started. The final shot Katerina hit was so high it should be called a MarsBall. I like how she never let the last game affect the next... She complains and gets angry but she channeled that emotion into better play. That's the fine line she always seems to be walking.
Anyhow, Caro up next. Their only previous match was a close one. I think Katka had recently turned her *knee in the *Osaka final the week before(?). Let's hope she can make a nice run here at IW, maybe even earn a seed for Miami.

Katka has altered her service motion again. As far as I can tell, she was still using her ultra-abbreviated motion in Dubai. Now she's gone to a more traditional abbreviated motion (traditional by her standards ).

From the 2nd set onwards she was pretty clutch, saved 8/9 BPs with some nifty dropshots and penetrating CC BHs. Barthel made a comeback in the 3rd, but Katerina remained on her game. She actually lifted her level, finding the range going down both lines by keeping really safe margins. Siniakova did well to jump on anything short and really fire it to Barthel's BH corner. The defensive gets were showcased and the attitude and body language were very positive.
Next up is a rusty CSN. Hopefully Katerina can carry some momentum into this match and really force CSN to come up with BH winners down the line.
Katka might have a very good chance against Carla, although that one-handed backhand might also be a problem for her. She won't be able to pull Carla out of position as easily as she would other players. Anyway, we shall see. She really toughed it out against Mona yesterday, and she didn't let her emotions get out of control. Well, most of the time anyway

I really don't get this. It looks like a "standing" serve motion to me.
