I think she can do more in singles yet, she has to sort out how she handles pressure and keeps her focus. Remember she is still our only multiple WTA champion, junior slam champion and she is going to the Olympics as a singles player by right. And she had her career hampered for a year or two with glandular fever. Hardly call that anything less than a good singles career so far. In fact she had the best career of any brit girl since the 80's and we can still see she could be vastly more consistent.
Nah, I can't see her ever completely giving up her singles career for doubles. I think she could possibly start to focus more on doubles though, and if she finds further success there she might start to lean towards doubles more, kind of like Vinci earlier on in her career or BMS in fact.

But as Pesto said, she needs a stable partnership with somebody good. There's obviously Erakovic but they didn't seem to quite click when they teamed up recently liek they had previously..Her and Naomi are good together but she might find even more success with..somebody....I just don't know who her partner could be... lol.

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

I'd like to see her form a stable doubles partnership, because I think doubles really suits her.

But as for specialising in doubles at the expense of singles, the prize money is so much less that it doesn't add up. If Hev can hover around 50 or 60 in singles, it's doubtful she can match that with even a highly successful doubles career.

This year, she's earned $329,610 in singles, plus $48,646 in doubles and $76,646 in mixed.

Only 8 players have earned more than $300,000 in doubles.

Thanks for posting that @JamieOwen3 it will be nice to watch it again whilst I am not a nervous wreck.

It will be interesting to see how far she can go this week with BMS. Although I suspect BMS will continue her partnership with Safarova in the long term.

I can see it tbh. She was great in the mixed finals! She's very quick to react.

Stosur too strong for Heather.

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

Hev is obviously very much the underdog v Stosur, but given Stosur's form v Kuzzy's form, I'd say there is more of a glimmer of hope now. No expectations though.

BMS, wow, has she split with Safarova then?

They play Daria Kasatkina / Svetlana Kuznetsova, so Hev gets to keep her date with Kuzzy, after all.

It's a shame she couldn't play with Naomi again. But a good opportunity for Hev. I guess that Bethanie was looking for a partner and was impressed with Hev's recent victory in mixed doubles at Wimbledon. It will make her a more sought after partner in doubles for sure.

Yes, it's a more winnable match I would say but still not easy.

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

Better draw, if only very slightly! Stosur lost to Pegula last week so that's a pretty clear indication as to what form she is currently in.

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

Change of plan, since the draw was revised to take account of Serena's withdrawal.

She plays Stosur in the first round.
