Re: Caroline Garcia

Interesting way of looking at it. I agree to an extent but i really want to see her face Serena on Rod Laver arena!

Re: Caroline Garcia

I hope Caro gets to play Strycova, in case she beats Dodin, because one very good way to improve is to beat your nemesis in an important match.

Re: Caroline Garcia

Well she won in straight sets so we can not ask for much more. I think Caroline has gotten better at winning these matches because a few years i go i think she would have lost this.

I think she will beat Dodin. Hopefully Strycova gets knocked out

Re: Caroline Garcia

I saw the match. They played great match actually. At the end of 1st set, it was very interesting with some good points. But Bondarenko helped her a little bit when she had the break. Once she did 3 doubles...
Anyway, the win is there, and in 2nd set it was obvious she was suffering from the heat. Good that she won. And sad for next rd

Re: Caroline Garcia

Considering that this was Caro's first match of the year, she was quite solid. Congrats !!

Caroline if you want your breakthrough here you'll have to go DOWN THE LINE more!try to surprise your opponent.
Yes, being able to hit a down-the-line backhand out of a crosscourt shot from the opponent is what separates the great players from the normal ones. Crosscourt ballbashing may appear impressive at first sight, but in the end it's pretty useless.

It's time for Caro to add a few champions elements to her game.

As for this tournament, I am cautiously optimistic.

Re: Caroline Garcia

seems like a very "rusty" match today, from what I saw on Eurosport website, Bondarenko was leading in both sets (4-1 then 3-1)

must have been tough due to the heat but better step up cause she wont go far with such a start

disappointing Océane and her have to face in R2 I still think Caro has to go more for it and yes stop playing those boring crosscourt backhands

But great recovery at the end so congrats.

Re: Caroline Garcia

Yes this is the one month it pays to be in this time zone to follow the tennis (well the Asian swing at the end of the season also).

Bondarenko had a massive choke vs Vinci recently so it might have been her choking as much as Caro stepping up on the big points. But either way it's still good given she had no matches this year 'til today.

Re: Caroline Garcia

I was also unable to see the match due to the time.

Seems like it was a tough match, a close one, but she got through which is the important thing.

Caro wins the 1st round 7-6 6-4
I was only able to follow the match on the livescores but I think she may have saved set point(s) in the 1st. Also quite a few breaks in the 2nd.
She will play Dodin next.

Re: Caroline Garcia

considering she arrives here with no match preparation it is tough to make any projection

one round at a time. Bondarenko to start. Better be very serious and deliver since the 1st ball.

Allez!

Re: Caroline Garcia

This wasn't going to be her breaktrough Slam anyway (if she ever has one), regardless of draw.

A 2R vs Océ might be fun though
