Re: Caroline Garcia

Caro and Kiki at least won in doubles today (just).
I don't know much about Caro's coaching re: her dad, but when Aga left her father as coach her results really improved, while Wozniacki is still with her father as coach and she hasn't got better.
I don't know if her results would get better or worse with a new coach, but I just thought I would point out those two examples.

Re: Caroline Garcia

Unfortunately Caro is not a champion yet. She's still developing mentally and it might be a few years before she reaches that level.

It sounds like a poor excuse but these things do affect players. You even see great champions get affected by delays and other external factors. The rain delays came at bad times for Caro, and she had to go off court and it allowed Strycova to reset whilst Caro cooled down. Ideally Caro wouldn't be affected, but it stopped her momentum. It happens, even to the best at times.

But i agree with what the overarching point you both make. It is just at this particular time, i feel the rain played a part in why she lost.

Re: Caroline Garcia

A true champion would utilize such a rain delay to play even better after play resumes. Améliemomo is exactly right! As long as Caro stays in her safe environment, she will always stumble over the first obstacle that crosses her way during a match.

Re: Caroline Garcia

well sorry to disagree a bit cause this is tennis conditions, if she wants to get into next level she has to adapt and put frustration behind her

that's why I say she should work with someone outside her dad and family cocoon to become more mature

well giving her "the rain excuse" wont help her finally get this breakthrough we talked about

perhaps it will never happen, that's an eventuality I consider now

Re: Caroline Garcia

Yeah i agree here. Caro would have probably won without the rain delays. The one after the first set really halted the momentum she had built, and after a delay it is like starting over again.

the fact she got broken from the very 1st game of the 3rd set is a very BAD thing

what did her dad said? let me guess : "do what you did in 1st set, stay agressive and target the right spots?"

well we see that it was NOT ENOUGH cause strycova adapted her game plan and tactics

that break at 3-4, she HAD TO HOLD there, that's why these 2 have different ranking

and for someone as succeful in doubles her net skills were not successful enough!
No, she said that she is coming oncourt trying to do things more simply, and easier. Well here it was not the case.

I really think that without this fucking rain she would have win this one in 2. Strycova was not hitting the ball very well and Caroline played some incredible points. But each time the rain came out, it was Caroline's momentum, and she came down after the break. It is a bit sad actually, but i think she needs time to be in her match.
I think her match in Gstaad is really not like any other loss she had, she played first round on friday, right after what happent in Nice, and i think it was really difficult for her to be there. And i think that's why she took a week off instead of going to Bastad. I think it really affects her, and she is so tired by the rain, that i don't think it is revealing her real level.
After her match in Montreal, she said that she is so pissed off by the rain, and here i think this is the rain who beat Caroline.

Next is Florianopolis, let's see what will happen. She will probably be seed 3 (if JJ has the wc), and the field there seems so weak, so hope she will go at least in the final.

Re: Caroline Garcia

well we all discussed about her having a "real coach" who can give her those "advices" she lack in order to shine in BIG EVENTS (slams, Premiere)

but now I changed my mind, I thought Gabriel Urpi would be "ideal" but no, the fact she sticks with dad and not wanting to experience new things
well I think she doesnt deserve someone like Gabriel Urpi or even Amélie Mauresmo (in her dreams). She must stay with her dad in top30-35 and be inconsistent in tournaments that matter the most for her entire career. Congrats to her poor way of managing her progression.

Allez zou!

Re: Caroline Garcia

It has been a weird year so far for Caro. She has shown signs of promise, then she keeps getting pegged back by a poor run.

Started well, then after Dubai she went on a poor spell until she won in Strasbourg and had a good spell from there until Wimbledon, and now she is on a 3 match losing streak

Re: Caroline Garcia

cant believe it, after winning that 1st set

another disappointing loss against someone who can mix it up and adapt her game better than caro does

Re: Caroline Garcia

I don't know how much the rain delays played a factor, but Strycova for sure came out the better after two of them.

It was hard to build any momentum with the stops and starts. Caro struggled a lot with her serve in the second set. The third i switched after the rain delay because i needed to go to bed.

An already annoying match-up for her was made worse by the weather
