Re: Tennis Moldova

1st tournament ever in Moldova this week in Chisinau
But not many moldovans will play, Vdovenco, Tishchenko, Ciobanu and Detiuc are missing ...

Alex Perper will be the 1st seed, Sosnovschi, Helbet, Medvedcova, Zaicenco & Stamat will compete in the MD, hopefully Dancenco will join them

Re: Tennis Moldova

Congrats to Nastia, Adriana & Vlada on making history: they qualified for the U18 Summer Cup finals last week, and it's the first time Moldova is in the final draw!

Indeed, they ended 2nd of their group last week in Italy: they were the 4th seeds, beat Belgium 3-0 in R1 (Adriana d. Mathilde Trigaux, 2 & 0; Nastia d. Sophie Gerits, 7-5 6-1; Nastia & Adriana d. Gerits/Trigaux, 2 & 0), and 2nd seeds Great Britain 3-0 in SF (Adriana d. Eden Richardson, 6-7(6) 6-4 6-0; Nastia d. Emily Appleton, 6-4 2-6 7-5; Vlada & Adriana d. Axon/Richardson, 6-4 2-6 [10-8]) , lost 0-3 to top seeds Italy in the final (Adriana lost to Ludmilla Samsonova, 5-7 3-6; Nastia retired at 1-6 vs. Lucrezia Stefanini; they gave a WO in doubles).

Great effort! Worrying retirement from Nastia though... Hopefully it's just precautionary, as they had already qualified by making the final and maybe she wanted to preserve herself for the finals?

Re: Tennis Moldova

Adriana did pretty well at the U18 European Championships this week: she had a bye in R1, double-bagelled Judit Cartana Alana in R2, lost 6-2 3-6 3-6 to 10th seed Fanny Stollar (junior CHR 7, WTA 319) in R3 today

There also was Vlada in the draw: she had a bye in R1, beat Anette Maelt 5-7 6-2 7-6(4), lost 1 & 0 to 11th seed Eva Guerrero Alvarez (#28) in R3

Dolonc took out top seed (and top 200 player!) Leykina in straights in R2, btw! And she's through to the SFs now...

Sasha Perper won her first career singles title last week in Romania, congrats! She won 10K Galati where she was the 4th seed, beating qualifier Miriam Bulgaru 6-2 1-6 7-6(5) in the final!

Yes, everything has to do with Vdovendo getting sick and leaving the Fed Cup team last year. Tauber, who was the captain last year, says she left without permission, after being told not to, while her mother says she was right to leave since her sickness was observed by Tauber and the team medic, even claims she got permission from Tauber during a phone conversation

After losing to Madagascar they stopped playing Helbet and managed to win the group after all but lost to Lux. in the play-off

Omg, the freaking drama

Officially Vdovenco wasn't taken in the team for disciplinary reasons? What did her mum say?

Anyways, it was a terrible decision, they lost to Madagascar last week-end. With Vdovenco, Perper & Detiuc, the team would have been 10 times stronger...
