Re: Jelena Ostapenko

It was very cool to watch Ostapenko against Bia.
Congrats, Aljona, for the first WTA in hardcourt.

They might be included in the trophy ceremony video here - I haven't downloaded it yet:

Just really hope this scenario won't happen, i would rather have both playing and see Konta, Woz or Halep sitting at the sidelines.

WTa really should have changed rules years ago so that slam champs automatically qualify for YEC.
But the WTA finals are staged at a bad time for the USA, an OK time for Europe, and very good time for Asia. Jelena is wildly popular with fans everywhere, as her matches in Seoul have just proven. There are very few players who can fill a stadium and create a great atmosphere, and right now, she's one of them. Her ultra-aggressive game can go badly wrong, but it's the sort of game that people want to watch, and it certainly makes for drama-filled matches

Wouldn't mind her withdrawing from Wuhan, even tho she has a BYE the draw and schedule is not helping.

Re: Jelena Ostapenko

This was a really good week for her even though the last two matches were quite a struggle. It just gives her some great momentum before Wuhan and the last few weeks of her Asian swing. She has a BYE in Wuhan which is great, but she will need to be striking right from the start if she wants to get past Strycova and make a deep run. Hopefully the wins this week have given her the confidence and match fitness she needs
