Re: Return Winner: The Laura Robson support thread.

She suggested in the interview on ITV4 last night that she may well go there. Good move.

Mr.Sparkle Rumour has it on Twitter that Laura will be playing 50k Eastbourne. Not 100% confirmed though.

Laura is currently at 304.

She needs to win some matches on the grass to make the cut off for the US Open qualifying.

Yeah, but the thing Laura hasn't even won a 25 before

That sole itf title came with her when she was junior Wimbledon in 08 .

I don't know how she likes picking up balls herself, probably something she doesn't do often 3/4 her career.

Mr.Sparkle That's true. But maybe that could end up being a good motivator? The toughest part is going to be breaking back into the top 100 from the 150-100 range. Both Jo and Naomi did it by winning 100ks.

Re: Return Winner: The Laura Robson support thread.

She won't have a choice. After Wimbledon, the WCs and PRs have gone. So if she wants to be a player on the main tour she literally has one last chance this grass court season to get some big wins otherwise it's a matter of slugging it out on the ITF circuit for god knows how long.

To be fair though, she didn't really try very hard. She entered three ITF tournaments through qualifying this year and lost the first round in two of them, which must have been pretty disheartening. Her attempts at ITF tournaments in 2015 were pretty much disrupted by injury, although she did have a decent run in doubles to a final.

I think she could compete at ITF level, but she just has to be persistent enough. But really I don't think she's made a decent attempt to actually consistently enter and compete at ITF tournaments week in week out yet. Hopefully now she will get a semi decent ranking near the top 300 she will do this.

Re: Return Winner: The Laura Robson support thread.

Despite all the tournaments she's competed in this clay court season she still hasn't actually played many matches - only 8 matches from 6 tournaments. From one tournament to another she can go a full week without playing a match. She needs matches, on a daily basis, until she gets back into the swing of things.

Didnt meet the 5 games set goal, but she was really mad at herself.

I think her game is still not even her 2012 level.. her game a problem.

Really need somebody to help her or talk to her. Those Wcs runs out post Wimbledon, reality might be harsh for her soon.

Hope she can do something on grass.

Also I am under the impression, shes struggling physically? Shes out of breathe and loses power on her strokes after a hour.

First of all I am almost crying to watch her playing, because this is not more the fresh girl. For me she looks very uncomfortable on court.

I see three huge Problems.

First of all, of course the mentally problem is clear. Very bad Errors. Not only unforced, it is really bad. Clear Points, which are going out and the confidence boost gets the Opponent.

But it is not only a mentally Problem.

The next huge part is her defensive liability. If there is a opponent, who is pressuring, she can not sustain this pressure. The error is coming fast or she is not reaching the balls anymore. She is in this ability the total opposite of a Radwanska or a Kerber. She has to improve this part. Without a defensive ability, she will never reach top 100 again. No question about that.

The third part is her service. I see a worse Service after her wrist injury. Perhaps it is the wrist or not. But Petkovic was a class better in Service than she was. And that is dissapointing.

She has to improve a lot, if she wants to get back in a quality niveau. And I hope she is starting that. Which is her Coach at the Moment by the way? Sorry for this dumb question, i do not know that.

Next tournament grass?

Hi! Nice post. I completely agree those are three of her biggest problems. Her defence was especially bad today, she was going off balance very easily and sometimes would be unable to do anything with a slightly angeled hard hit shot.

Her coach is currently Mauricio Hadad and her next tournament will be on grass at WTA Nottingham, as she has received a WC into the main draw.

Laura gonna win it... petkovic is little bit one dimensional with her ground stroke... lets just hope Laura find her range from the first point.

I wouldn't mind. At least she'll be in the tournament a day or too longer.
