Re: The Ianchuk sisters ~ Elizaveta & Olga ~

Liza has had an impressive week in 25K Naples in Florida this week, reaching the final all the way from the qualies

Seeded 4 in qualies, she beat Sofia Munera 1 & 0 in Q1, Ema Burgic Bucko 6-0 2-0 ret. in Q2, and 14th seed Sofia Kenin (who reached a junior CHR of 2 after she made the USO final last year) 6-4 7-5 in Q3.
In the MD, she beat Jarmila Wolfe (former world #25) 6-2 4-6 7-6(5) in R1, Grace Min (who thrashed 2nd seed Mestach in R1) 7-6(1) 6-2 in R2, 7th seed Amra Sadikovic (WTA 175) 1 & 1 in QF, and Sharon Fichman (former world #77) 4 & 4 in SF , before ultimately falling to Barbara Haas (who upset top seed Zanevska in R2) in the final today despite a promising start, 6-3 2-6 2-6.

As for Olya, she was there too. She was seeded 5 in qualies, beat Nicole Coopersmith 7-6(4) 7-6(6) in Q1, Zuzana Zlochova 3 & 4 in Q2, and 15th seed Quirine Lemoine 6-4 4-6 6-4 in Q3. However, she fell in R1 to Maria Sanchez, 4 & 1. Been stalling a little bit I feel...

Liza made the SFs of 25K Equeurdreville last week, she beat (WC)Margot Yerolymos 2 & 1 in R1, (Q)Claire Feuerstein gave her a WO in R2, she routined top seed Stéphanie Foretz (WTA 76, CHR 75) 2 & 3 in QF but she got thrashed by 3rd seed Sofia Shapatava in SF, 0 & 2

Olga didn't play there

Sisters are playing 25K Istanbul this week!

Olya was directly in the MD, but she drew 8th seed Polina Leykina (WTA 218, who's in the form of her life, won 2 25Ks this summer + made 1 more 25K final) in R1, and she lost 3 & 2 to her. Still expected she'd make it closer, as Polina doesn't have one of these big, overwhelming games

Liza had to go through the qualies where she was seeded 3 - which she did successfully with wins over Ani Vangelova in Q1, 2 & 1 and 11th seed Ayla Aksu in Q2, 4-6 6-1 6-4
And her R1 opponent, fellow Ukrainian Olga Fridman (a leftie 17 yo who won a 50K in France 2 days ago but still made the trip to Istanbul), just retired at 2-5 against her

R2 vs. Cristina Dinu won't be easy, davayyy

Re: The Ianchuk sisters ~ Elizaveta & Olga ~

Maybe sisters were intending to save themselves for the actual 25K held in Bucha this week

Olga is the 3rd seed there, beat (SE)Tamara Zidansek (who won 25K Dobrich last week ) 6-7(8) 6-3 6-3 in R1

Liza was the 8th seed but lost to Dea Herdzelas in R1, 6-7(5) 6-7(5) Dea is in good form so losing to her is no real disaster, even though losing a match on such a scoreline must be pretty tough to swallow

Re: The Ianchuk sisters ~ Elizaveta & Olga ~

The week in Bucha was a short one...

Liza was the 3rd seed, retired at 1-6 down against 17 yo qualifier Anastasiya Shoshyna in R1.

Olya was the top seed, struggled to get past 14 yo WC Viktoriia Dema in R1, 6-7(4) 6-4 6-1, and was routined by 18 yo Helen Ploskina (who was only playing her 3rd tournament this week, first one since February) in R2, 4 & 1.

Looks like an odd terrible tankjob by both

Re: The Ianchuk sisters ~ Elizaveta & Olga ~

The sisters took a little break after St-Pet and were back to competing at 25K Batumi in Georgia last week.

Liza was the 8th seed, beat (Q)Daria Lodikova 6-1 7-5 in R1 but flopped to Sofia Kvatsabaia in R2, 4-6 6-3 4-6.

Olya was the 6th seed, beat Anastasia Pribylova 7-5 6-4 in R1, Melis Sezer 3 & 3 in R2, and (4)Akgul Amanmuradova 1-6 6-4 4-3 ret. in QF, before falling short against (2)Cagla Buyukakcay (WTA 192, CHR 108) in SF, 3 & 2.

Both sisters will play 10K Bucha in Ukraine this week. Olya is the top seed there, Liza the 3rd seed.
