I suppose since Madrid is altitude and "fast clay" Naomi's serve was actually quite effective on it, but then Oceane's serve and shots should have suited fast clay too.
I checked broady playing very "RARELY" on clay, I thought Oceane with her wins on stuttgart and pragues qualies (6) she would have won this one

disappointing cause she withdrew from Cagnes, this was a "losing bet" there in madrid

well at least she'll have enough time to practice on her "spin" before Istres Open (50k), go work on the angles and pace variations

edit: I found an interview from Prague from which I heard her speak English for the first time. She is adorable.

Re: Océane Dodin

I think her issue is mental too because she doesn't seem to fight here. So she doesn't look for a solution.

Re: Océane Dodin

lost 3 and 2 to this young czech player

well, my dear Oceane you should learn how to play on clay. She just doesnt know and this match was jus embarrassing for her tennis wise I mean

you just can NOT play the winner when you see it doesn't work ! I blame her on her lack of tactic, bu her dad who is her coach is also to be blamed

so many errors, especially on return of serve, come on! change something!hit with spin, go a bit more behind

she was just hitting right left but her opponent was consistent to get her strikes back, océane needs to learn how to slide on clay. It is very rare for a french player not knowing how to slide on clay

let's pray for her grass will come soon

court 1

and not too early ,which is good...for me

so,for court 1 OOP is:

starting at 10 am. , hradecka-hlavackova
followed by ,krejcikova-cibulkova
followed by , oceane dodin-vondrousova
.....

Re: Océane Dodin

A string of fairly easy wins. Not bad. Dodin serves well, and clay makes it easier to get the breaks she needs.

Something like 75% of Euro ITF-level scrubs would probably give clay as their favourite surface, but don't let that get in the way of the hoary old clichés.
