Dasha has won in doubles. Dasha won with Begu 5-7 7-6 10-6! And that after 0-3 in the 2nd set!

I don't think Wozniacki in the early round is a bad match up for Dasha.

She likes having time to build points and against Caro, she should have time. They are both consistent players and I think Dasha has more weapons to hit winners in this kind of match up.
It's really the kind of match she needs to play to progress, a solid player against whom she will have to hit winners and will not be able to wait UE.

Re: Darya Kasatkina

I thought she could beat Puig also, but its tough to play right after beating Kerber and all the delays
She's playing Kerber, Puig and Wozniacki in a row. That is like week 2 of a major, not easy. Kerber/Puig was the Gold medal match and Kerber/Wozniacki was a US Open SF.
But the fields will be bigger at IW & Miami and maybe she can get some luck in the draws.
I expect this is the time to play Caroline. She just had a long week and might start slow

Re: Darya Kasatkina

Darya closed her first two matches in Doha very well, and I am pretty sure if she had played Puig in the first or second round, she would have beaten her in two. It’s almost always the third match of a tournament during which Dasha becomes afraid of winning. The day she overcomes this mental block, she will have a bigger breakthrough, I feel.

Wozniacki is certainly a tough draw for a first round match, but given Dasha’s abilities, she can make it a competitive match.

Davay, good luck !!

I don't like this. Dasha should play smaller tournaments. This way she'll progress faster.

Dasha starts tomorrow in doubles with Begu.
Third match on court 2 against Svitolina/Bondarenko.

Oh my god

But if you can win against Kerber, then it can against Wozniacki.

Re: Darya Kasatkina

Very tough draw in Dubai. Wozniacki is in the Doha final and they almost met in the semi. But this is round 1

Muguruza [5] v BYE
Bondarenko v Q
Buyukakcay (WC) v Golubic
Kasatkina v Wozniacki [10]

Re: Darya Kasatkina

If you just watch the last 3 games from serving 4-3, it was not her best tennis. Certainly not good enough on first serves, and several unforced errors.
Its too early in her career to worry about some close losses. And they havent been in slam finals or semis, so they really havent been a negative. Something she has to experience a few times to help her focus better in the future.
I think being under the radar is a good thing. You dont need the celebrity early unless you have already won a major, because when you're famous, fans look at good results and are still disappointed. Expectations get unrealistic.
Now is a fun time to be a tennis star, and she should enjoy the process.
The money is great, the branding is great. Bouchard, Wozniacki and Serena all in SI swimsuit issue.
Never a better time to be a young WTA star

This defeat Dasha I do not blame you. I am very proud of Dasha, and have great respect for her. Yesterday was a tough day. The only criticism is that Dasha again gave away a comfortable lead. There they have to work.

Yes, she was fine. 4-2 lead and then puff
Puig raised her level but not enough to pull a comeback alone, she had a lot of help from Dasha.
Maybe it was for the best as rain is still a problem in Doha.

Dasha

Poor Dasha was demolished after the tough day yesterday. I think the competition distortion. But I'm very proud of Dasha!
