Re: Puerto Rican hope Monica Puig

what an epic match- and most importantly: Monica managed to control her emotions and frustration at the end ! (the MPs she missed, the BPs she saved, the uncertainty of wanting to go on or to postpone the match because of darkness...) she improved so much in that aspect this is why she's so much stronger now

Jules was clutch at serve saved so many BPs ..but Monica was as good a server as Julia today - impressive from both

congrats Pica! amazing win ! now rest well and be ready for Madison!

Re: Puerto Rican hope Monica Puig

Monica wins in a very dramatic and intense 3-setter: 7-5 (4)6-7 7-5

Superb quality from both players. This should've been a QF at least. Monica wasted a LOT of chances though, needing 6 matchpoints and having so many break points. But so did Julia, specially in the first set.

I feel so happy for Pica. Seeing her so emotional in the end was amazing. It was a tough 2015 for her, and I'm glad things are looking better for her in 2016.

Now rest tomorrow, because you're beating Keys too

Monica is at her peak performance now. If she has a good serve match, similar to the R-1 match, it will be Mo in (2)...We'll see...

Re: Puerto Rican hope Monica Puig

R-1 is in the bag...Mo defeated Govortsova 7-5, 6-3...Very good performance, 65% first serve effectiveness, (9) Aces, only (3) DF's, and just (8) UFE's. A very good match result...R-2 v Julia Goerges...Monica is 2-0 up v Julia. She will prevail in R-2...Then a possible re-match v Keys. If I recall they are 2-1...Monica will defeat Keys if this match happens!!!

Re: Puerto Rican hope Monica Puig

Being looking very close to the French Open Draw and IMO Monica will come out of this major tournament ranked #35 or below....Really hope that I am right one more time....We'll see....Wish she plays Keys in
R-3. She will prevail. R-4 and beyond I can not tell...

According to a local newspaper, it was just a precautionary measure to be OK for Roland Garros. Although it looked really painful, we know Monica is really emotional and her tears were a mix of physical pain and sadness/frustration because she couldn't finish the match.

Get well soon, Monica!

It looked like a hamstring pull. Hopefully nothing more serious.

Re: Puerto Rican hope Monica Puig

Back home from a trip to PR...Great win today v Errani. This is her third win in a row v Errani and now she has won in hard court, grass court, and clay court. Therefore, she has the quality of game to compete v the best in the world. The key to success is "consistency". We are seeing more of that from MO as time progresses. Kudos to Macho Todero, he is doing a tremendous job of coaching "our girl"....She will prevail v Razzano!!!

PS. Mo had 60% first serve effectiveness 6 Aces and only 2 DF's...As said before, this is the key to wining
matches in the WTA...
