2017 AO R1: Watson trolls [18] Stosur out of AO 63 36 60

Some positive comments for Heather in the above tennis forum amongst general rubbishing of Sam.

Well done Heather. Shows the Hopman Cup was good preparation. Dan Evans came good in Sydney and so far so good in Melbourne.

Fantastic win for Hev! The high level of tennis she displayed throughout was impressive. She especially hit her forehand very well.

Hev won a match at a grand slam! 63, 36, 60

This was an important win for Hev.. Even though there was no way she should/could lose with Stosur's record and mentality at this event but looks like she was thinking about it..

Nest opponent will be either of two ITF giants Brady or Zanevska. Very winnable match either way.

Stosur is an absolute head case in Melbourne! Hopefully Heather takes advantage

Well Sam lost in the first round last year. She's almost as uncomfortable playing in the Aussie Open as she is at Wimbledon.

Good win for Heather in final match. Dan Evans unfortunately failed to win a set in six matches.

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

I suppose she is guaranteed three semi-competitive singles and mixed doubles in preparation for the AO which she probably wouldn't get in one of the current tournaments.

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

Ok, I changed my mind. Wateva have still not won a match..

I don't know why Hev is now so obsessed with Hopman Cup.. I get wanting to play with Andy leading up to the Olympics but, this year she really could have used getting some more ranking points in Auckland or Shenzhen.

I have no clue why Dan played, this doesn't seem like his sort of event at all.

That is amazing.

Bencic has a bigger game and was still missing A LOT. Hev wasn't going for it, playing defensively and still ended up with more errors? You can't do that.
I think one thing Hev could try doing is putting more topspin on her forehand.

Her backhand is fine as it though, and she can often hit impressive winners off that side. The forehand does break down too easily and I think because she hits it too flat, so she needs to get more margin for error off that side.

@no-hay-igual So true, and I think the same very often when I'm watching Hev's matches. And her forehand tends to break down quite often when she's not confident with her tennis, which is most of the time nowadays.

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

I agree she served well. Bencic really hated stretching on either side for a well placed first serve.
