Yes, I am glad she has been able to play again soon after winning in Landisville. If she had to wait over a month, the flame might have fizzled out.

I have a feeling her match against Shinikova will be a tough three setter...

No pressure or anything Laura.

I've stayed up after all - too hot to sleep. I thought that score said Laura was down 3-0 but when I looked again I saw that she had won the first set 6-3 so I must have been mistaken. A nice surprise though. Let's hope she can keep it up.

Laura's match should be starting soon. Stepanek is making short work of Skugor (whoever the hell that is). First set in 19 minutes, wow.

She provided a way sterner test than Mel Oudin in the previous round who'd been elevated to top seed after Simona Halep, the French Open Junior Champion, shat herself after seeing Laura obliterate the field in the warm-up events at Roehampton and Eastbourne and pulled out of the draw. Clearly, Halep had decided "enough" was "enough".
Another great history lesson from Carl Sagan!

Shinikova is slower on hardcourts, inconsistent some times have mental lapses in matches. The match is on Lauras racket , Shinikova will try to keep balls in play

Maria is the toughest opponent in the section, shes will slice and slice all day long. Laura need to be patient and keep attacking her backland and moves well. It's really is about patience and timing. Maybe Malcekova and Soylu will knock Maria out, I wouldn't be suprised.

Laura is the best player in that section if she plays well enough.
