Re: Stefanie Vögele!!!

Q-draw released.

No Stefi, no interest. Wrist not ready yet.

Hopefully the fact that her name appeared to stay on the list up until the last minute means she's on the mend, and doesn't just mean a clerical error somewhere.

Re: Stefanie Vögele!!!

Still listed for Budapest Qualies - Q draw out today.

Nice indoor venue:

If she's recovered and ready, this'll be the fourth tournament in a row Stefi's been a high seed in qualies. All that hard tennis for very few points.

Her recent good form must pay off soon, I just know it.

Stefi's sent us a picture:

Calm, quiet and in repose.

Judging by the power point on the wall, I reckon she's home with Mum.

At the qualifying cutoff date of 23rd Jan, Stefi was #112.

So if she's recovered and ready, she's in.

But she isn't, and so she isn't.

Qualifier draw announced, and she's not there.

so obviously the wrist hasn't come good yet.

Re: Stefanie Vögele!!!

Still entered in Qatar at the time of writing, but at entry #77 with 32+32=64 entrants, will be unlikely to get in.

Also in the Q draw for Budapest the very next week.

I hope this means the wrist is responding nicely to rest and treatment. Our Stefi has been in genuinely good touch.

Re: Stefanie Vögele!!!

While Stefi recovers, rests her wrist and works on her core, time to take a look at a few stats.

Let's start with her ranking and her place in the "Road to Singapore" over the last two and a bit years.

So let me present to you - yes, it's the Stefi Graph:

^ The way she grips her right hand on the racquet, it's no surprise that she has right wrist injury.

From the great lady herself:

Unfortunately I had to pull out of yesterday's match with a right wrist injury.
I hope it will get better soon.
In other words, it's far too early to tell how serious it is. But ISTR she's had a wrist injury before, some years ago, so knows what to do about it.

Re: Stefanie Vögele!!!

Great to learn that she can't stop winning but I was so delusional to think she's already close to top 100. Hmm...
Leningrad is a pretty good substitute for Paris indoor and she needs to win some rounds if chances come as her form may drop all of a sudden.
