I live in Mason, just down the street from the tournament.

No, there is not a blessed thing to see, unless Petra likes amusement parks (King's Island).

A number of reasons make it more preferable to play and flop at Cinci instead of skipping it altogether if Petra enjoys playing at New Haven more than Cinci which she apparently does.

She gets the bonus at the end of the year for playing P5's
She retains the option of skipping it next year should she choose or circumstances choose for her.
She can treat it as a paid practice session, a practice session with prize money at the end of the practice, courtesy of the Cinci organisers.
She gets a week vacation in Cinci. Although idk about this one, is there anything to see in Cinci?

I understand Petra likes the Tournament Director in New Haven. Yeah. But, could you at least see what your summer looks like first before you commit. And if not (and you commit early), at least pull out of the middle tournament-for whatever reason-when you start to play them, or not playing them altogether)!?

Petra can vulture Tokyo or Wuhan (as she did last year), after the US Open. That's what's important.

the thing is...i don't understand why she employs this strategy of entering all the tournaments in case she loses early in some of them and needs more matches to get into her form

like why go into a tournament with this kind of attitude/mindset in the first place? why would you rather take a loss than to be committed, ready, and expecting to win the title at the end? it just does her no good when she's always losing to random scrubs because she's playing crappy and using the tournament for practice matches

duh no! But you would think she is sucking at the Us Open for playing a lot, but she is not. I think her attitude towards the whole hardcourt season has more to do, slow courts, heat, crazy fans??? She doesn't enjoy that.
