Pretty straightforward win over (6)Eraydin, 6-3 6-1

Like yesterday, the first set was more competitive, but this time Anna never fell behind.

$25k Kharkiv, Ukraine

R2: [1] A. Kalinskaya def. K. Kerimbayeva 6-4 6-1

Bit of a shorter match today but it wasn't all easy. First set was an hour and Anna made a slowish start to go down *0-3. Eventually got into gear and won the next four games to go *4-3. But then both players made a succession of double faults and traded breaks again.

Second set was far more plain sailing. Kerimbayeva didn't hold serve once.

Yeah I was surprised how long the match was given the scoreline. What a battle! Agree, it was such tough luck these two had to meet in round one.

Anya had an easier time in doubles, rejoining her successful partnership with Valentini Grammatikopoulou (two titles together so far): 6-1 5-7 in just over an hour against a couple of wildcards.

Her next opponent will be Kerimbayeva, who thrashed Shoshyna 1 & 0 in R1.

Re: Anna Kalinskaya

She's playing the one qualifier I was hoping she'd avoid. Wanted both of them to do well here. <sigh>

Oof! Qualifiers placed and Anya has drawn... Wimbledon girls' runner-up Dayana Yastremska!

Their only previous meeting was also on clay at $100k Trnava in May. Yastremska won in three.
