Playing in the Caribbean in European autumn and making money by that - can't blame her.

Sorana has withdrawn from Luxembourg. It has been a long season in which she played many tournaments.

She doesn't speak of an injury, so I guess she just feels drained.

Let's see what 2014 will bring for her.

You are perfectly right here! This doesn't happen only in tennis, it's wide spread trend in Romanian sport. I don't know the real reasons but I incline to believe it has to do with how are we raised (family, society...). We kind of see only 'partea goala a paharului'.
About Hanescu, quote from http://www.treizecizero.ro/news/esti...-drept-raspuns

Ar trebui sa-i urmeze si altii exemplul poate (dupa posibilitati - daca exista)

Re: Fall Season 2013 - Top 20, here she comes!

I guess you understood me the wrong way. I was just pointing out that the losses of all three of them are trademark-like in the way they came to be.

Hanescu must have the worst final set TB record of any currently active tennis player. I can remember him throwing away tons of matches in TBs, also against higher ranked opponents. He also loses regularly (against higher ranked opponents) from a set up, nothing new here. He played a good match today, but it's a classic Hanescu scoreline.

There has been enough said on Sorana and Irina-Camelia.

I always try to convince myself that I'm looking through coloured glasses and therefore think of Romanian players being mentally more instable than players of other nations, but it isn't. Then again I wonder how they went that far in the first place - there must be talent - there must be game, but how to shut down the choking and learn to control the own temper. It's a tough task for all of them.

There is a big difference here :

• Hanescu (#75 ATP) played with a top 20 ATP player on his least favorite surface. We also couldn't see this match (from the statistics looks very good)

• Begu and Cirstea (#21 WTA) played with players ranked below top 100 ,on their favorite surface. (from the statistics look very awful)

Ordinary day in Romanian Tennis:

Hanescu losing from being a set up in consecutive TBs, extending his final set TB loss record to new heights.

Begu battling it out and losing in 2 hours against a player you never heard of, extending her UE record to what feels like three digits

Sorana bringing stupidity and brain death to a new level when close to break in to the Top 20, setting a new low for personal embarrassment.

Dead.

Well, another point on the list of the 'how to embarrass myself as a tennis player' list fulfilled.
