Re: Richel Hogenkamp

And that's 13 75 62 win over Ponchet

First time she's made it to the final qualifying round in Paris, this would be the moment to qualify you'd say. Only Grand Slam where she hasn't played the main draw yet.

12th win in a row at Roland Garros, 63 64 against Akiko Omae.

Now playing against French wildcard Jessika Ponchet, leading 75 *21.

Re: Richel Hogenkamp

Richel is playing with so maturity right now.

She should be in the Wimbledon cut-off of Monday as there are 4 possible SRs (Lisicki, Stephens, Tomljanovic and Knapp) but Serena surely won't play.
After so many years in the 100-200 range, this is the time to finally enter top 100.

Re: Richel Hogenkamp

And both wins in Saint-Gaudens and Tunis were on clay courts, which she likes less than hardcourts!

Great to see her play so well! She used her recovery time for that wrist injury (at least, I thought it was wrist) very well it seems.

Richel Two 60k titles in a row, who would have thought? And indeed almost main draw for Wimbledon

Hope she can ride this confidence into FO Q as well.

She wins To 105 and almost into the MD Wimbledon.

Re: Richel Hogenkamp

And another final at 60k Saint-Gaudens That's 10 wins in a row Further improving her career high she's on now at #112.

Beat Sanders, Loeb, Soler-Espinosa and Grammatikopoulou.

Re: Richel Hogenkamp

Yeah surprisingly not the level of opponents you would expect at a 60K.

Re: Richel Hogenkamp

Richel won the title at 60k Tunis, biggest title in her career so far Didn't have any particular impressive wins (G.Pantuchkova, a slumping Torro-Flor, Arcangioli, Bukta and Gjorcheska) but who cares. Huge points for the rankings

Re: Richel Hogenkamp

In short
Richel is recovered from her wrist injury.
Her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Richel decided to stay with her mom and trained much more. Here mother had surgery and is stable right now. More research is needed but the situation is good enough that Richel decided to play again.

Re: Richel Hogenkamp

Oh, wow. Sad to hear.
Then I was wrong to link it to the Haarhuis situation...

Hopefully she'll pick up her good form soon
