Re: Caroline Garcia

that's a good thing she do try something different but if she REALLY wants to change things DO IT REALLY!

change your coach and hire a personal fitness coach too, but please dont skip a competition that always been positive to you and your game

that doesnt make much sense especially if she still be playing doubles. I still remember seing her be scheduled in dubai very late at night, finishing her match at midnight or more
how do you want to be on top in both single and doubles?

why not skip doubles? is there any $$$$$ consideration here?I dont think so but I dont think she's right skipping fed cup, all the best players still competing fed cup (kerber,halep,radwanska,kuznetsova...)

Re: Caroline Garcia

Whether it is a good decision remains to be seen. But the positive way of looking at it is that she is making changes and trying something to get better.

well to be honest I also think playing fed cup is something which always been a positive competition for Caroline, her stats are pretty good
she showed very high level during fed cup and not so often during the regular season, especially in slams

I dont think playing fed cup prevented her from making big things during slams, that was not THE problem imo

and I kind of agree with Jow to think her dad is probably behind this...

playing fed cup is an honor cause you defend your country colors, she should play less MM tournaments and focus on the big competitions (Slams,Premier)

Being coached by Yannick Noah is such a great experience imo and at this point of Caro "young" career, I think it is too early to say "ok so next year I wont be playing fed cup to focus on myself"

you know Amélie Mauresmo did skip fed cup in 2004, she was n°1 at that time and France reached fed cup finale to finally lose it in doubles AGAIN!
Caroline has done nothing BIG for now, never been further than a 3rd round in slam, nor won any big tournament

I do hope she'll have her breakthrough next year and FINALLY play great in slams but dont think playing fed cup would prevent her from doing that

I think playing doubles is not a "necessary" thing to do but playing fed cup is something "higher" in term of emotions and meaning

Re: Caroline Garcia

Maybe if Kiki did her job then she wouldn't have to play either because they would have already won

Caroline has got to do what is best for her career, and if she thinks taking a year out of Fed Cup will help her then she must do it in my opinion. A lot of players skip Fed Cup/Davis Cup every year, i don't see the problem is Caro doing the same.

Re: Caroline Garcia

Ok so we know now who's gonna be the french fed cup captain after amélie

it will be Yannick Noah who will deal also with the davis cup team, just read kristina reaction saying she could have done like caroline, being selfish and decide to skip fed cup next year...

dont know what to think right now cause she seems to put some shade to caroline choice right now, will they still be playing doubles together next year??

kind of weird...

Re: Caroline Garcia

well at least we know she'll play sydney as her 1st tournament in 2017

hopefully she'll make a very good fitness preparation and perhaps hire a personal fitness trainer to make her be ready for every big tournament she enters

she has natural fitness capacity but to reach the top she must be "intense" on every single match so better work on her fitness to be able to do so

Re: Caroline Garcia

Lots of players take a break from Fed or Davis Cup in their career but I didn't really see this coming. Having said that they probably blew the best chance they would have to win it this year
I hope she will play it again at some point.

I was kidding haha, but yeah she is going to be a big miss for France. She is the only one that really steps up. Kiki and Alize/Oceane is not going to be good enough.

But from what you say it seems like her thought process behind it is encouraging which is good to see. She seems to be focused on becoming a top player and i hope that she rises next year.

She is right in what she said, just a little sad for the team. She said she is sure they (with her) will win the Fed Cup title in next years.

Re: Caroline Garcia

Well I was hoping her to say : "I decide to work with a real staff to prepare for next year, my choice goes to Gabriel Urpi as my coach and Xavier Moreau as my fitness coach"

well I can understand her not wanting to play fed cup but if she's really serious about ambitioning a top10 spot she should play less and think her schedule wisely

shouldnt play before a slam and yes focus on coming fresh and well prepared before a slam. Fed cup is not "THE" problem imo

the day she'll say I'm trying to work hard to get to another "dimension" but she wont do it without a real and preofessional entourage

Jow has she said something about her entourage? well now we know she's going to Florida (US) to make her preparation...

not that impressed about this information to be honest
