Re: The Discovery Thread

Apisah won the title, beating Staines 67(4) 64 64.

She also won the doubles title with Petra Hule, again beating Staines and her partner Zaviacic in the final.

Apisah should be ranked around 70 now if I did my calculations properly.
Staines should be around the 120s now.

Apisah and Staines meet for the 4th time in a row in a final now. Past 3 tournaments played by both have now ended with them meeting in the final. Apisah has won all 3 matches in straight sets.

Funnily both have quite similar birthdates (Apisah 11 Feb 2000 & Staines 11 Jan 2000)

Mays winning 10-0 in 3rd against Hule

Re: The Discovery Thread

Bit of an abyss in terms of numbers in the juniors right now. Hopefully just a lean year and we have more come up next year.

Well she did enter, currently 16 spots out from the QD.

The only Aussie entry is Baijing who is in the QD.
Fourlis & Mendez on the withdrawal list.

Re: The Discovery Thread

Violet won both back to back G4s in Queensland, beating Staines in both finals.

Violet now quite close to the top 100 and Staines close to top 150 now. With the USO entry deadline after the next ranking, hopefully this was beneficial for Violet and she makes it in to the USO.

Both have the B2 Oceanian Championships there with some quite easy points up for grabs, hopefully the two keep going and direct entrance into AO MD could be in sight

I think she can use her WTA. Anisimova is a massive Grass Mug vulture though, she lost 2 and 1 to Jarlskog last week I can't believe Queendrance lost to her in Paris from 6-1 up in the TB

Jaimee should win her R1 though. Not sure about R2 vs. Anisimova though.. Anisimova flopped quite badly last week in her 1st grass event. Who knows, maybe she's gotten used to the grass now But then again, Jaimee really should've beaten Potapova last week (who then won the title) Can see Jaimee reaching the QF here and playing it against Danilovic (which would be hard to call)
Yes she can win but it will be tough. Anisimova, Rybakina (who just made a 25K SF and has BBB game)/Liu, Danilovic Queendrance will take this title so for Jaimee she just needs to be thankful she is in the other half

Re: The Discovery Thread

Baijing on a 5 match losing streak right now and is down to Gracheva 36 14 She's playing quite terrible right now according to stats

10 Double faults... 24 UE compared to only 7 winners...

Re: The Discovery Thread

Last week Kaitlin Staines won both singles and doubles titles without dropping a set in the G4 in Fiji. That helped her move back 79 spots up to 216 near her CHR

She's also playing this weeks G5 in Fiji where she is the top seed and has reached the QF without many problems. She should be close to cracking the top 200 now

Re: The Discovery Thread

Fourlis was the only one that was able to win a match at G1 Roehampton.

Aiava lost in QR1 to Bolkvadze
Mendez took (6)Andreescu to 3 sets but couldn't get the win
Jeanette continues her dismal form losing in straight sets
Jaimee only lost 1 game defeating a British qualifier.

Jaimee will play 15th seed Ioana Minca now, and possibly Potapova in the 3rd round. Go Jaimee!

Wimbledon qualies will start in a few days.

Fourlis is safely in the MD, Jeanette is one spot away from making the MD and Aiava is 11 spots out from QD.
