Paris, France: 15-year-old Anna Rurikovich who stunned the tennis world in 2011 by reaching the quarterfinals of the FWTT Moscow event has announced today that she will return to the junior tour.

The past few months has seen Rurikovich dropped off the rankings list and tour as she concentrated on her studies in Paris.

But this year the teenager plans to commit again 100% to tennis and has requested wildcard entries into the upcoming French Open.

A monstrous tornado of rare power roared through an Oklahoma City suburb, killing at least 51, flattening neighborhoods with winds up to 200 mph (320 kilometers) and destroying at least one school. Officials said children were among the dead.

The death toll was expected to rise, an Oklahoma medical examiner's office spokeswoman said. More than 120 people were being treated at hospitals, including about 70 children. Some were in critical condition.

"Hearts are broken" for parents looking for their children, Governor Mary Fallin told a news conference.

The storm — less than 1 per cent of all tornadoes reach such wind speed — ripped through scores of buildings in the suburb of Moore in a region of the US known as Tornado Alley. Block after block lay in ruins. Cars and trucks were left crumpled.

The National Weather Service estimated that the tornado reached up to a half-mile (.8 kilometers) wide and was an EF-4 on the enhanced five-point Fujita scale, the second most powerful type of twister.

In video footage, the dark funnel cloud moved slowly across the landscape, scattering shards of wood, pieces of insulation, shingles and glass over the streets.

The focus quickly turned to Plaza Towers Elementary School, where the storm tore off the roof, knocked down walls and turned the playground into a mass of twisted plastic and metal.

Several children were pulled alive from the rubble. Rescue workers passed them down a human chain to a triage center in the parking lot.

James Rushing, who lives across the street, heard reports of the approaching tornado and ran to the school, where his 5-year-old foster son, Aiden, attends classes. Rushing believed he would be safer there.

"About two minutes after I got there, the school started coming apart," he said.

The students were put in the restroom.

After the tornado roaded through, Tiffany Thronesberry said she got a panicked call from her mother, Barbara Jarrell.

"I got a phone call from her screaming, 'Help, help! I can't breathe. My house is on top of me!'" Thronesberry said. She hurried to her mother's house, where first responders had already pulled her out with cuts and bruises.

Dangers remained. Downed power lines and open gas lines posed a risk Monday night, Police Capt. Dexter Nelson said.

The same suburb was hit hard by a tornado in 1999. That storm produced the highest winds ever recorded near the Earth's surface - 302 mph (486 kph).

"Oklahoma City has had more tornado strikes than any other city in the United States," the city government's website says.

President Barack Obama called Fallin to express his concern.

OK, so I'm up late, lots of coffee, mind wandering and just imagined this scenario...

You're at the latter stages (SF/F) of one of the Slams/Miami (a big stakes tournament) watching your fave. On your person you have a large-enough-to-be-noticed but easily disposable item. It's a very tight match drawing to a close. Your fave goes MP down, they return the ball and you see their opponent get into position ready to smack that certain winner....

So the question is, would you throw the item on court so the point is replayed? Giving your fave one more chance?

And if anyone wants to go off on one don't bother, 'improbable situation' is in the title for a reason. It's just for fun. The ultimate stan test I guess.

Try and imagine it being the worst possible scenario, like for Serena fans, Serena finally getting to the RG final again but being MP down against Sharapova etc etc *cue 'improbable situation' jokes*

Kelly Rowland, Paulina Rubio Join 'The X-Factor' as Judges
By Kevin Rutherford | May 20, 2013 7:54 PM EDT

http://www.billboard.com/articles/co...ctor-as-judges

In the continuing game of singing competition musical chairs, "The X-Factor" announced its new lineup of judges in preparation for the show's return this fall.

According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, longtime Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland and Latin star Paulina Rubio will join the FOX singing talent show, joining returning judge Demi Lovato and show founder Simon Cowell.

Both additions to the judges' table are no strangers to such competitions, though. Rowland judged the British counterpart of "The X-Factor," while Rubio took a spot on the Mexican version of "The Voice."

The inclusion of Rowland and Rubio creates a first for American singing competitions. When it premieres this fall, the show will have the first judging panel with a female majority, the three ladies outnumbering former "American Idol" judge Cowell.

Rubio becomes the second Latin music star with American crossover success ("Don't Say Goodbye" peaked at No. 41 on the Hot 100 and found its way onto a NOW compilation in 2002) to coach a U.S. singing competition, following in the footsteps of Shakira, who is currently a part of "The Voice," though she'll be leaving by season's end.

Rowland and Rubio replace the departing L.A. Reid, who had been with the show since its first season, and Britney Spears, who left "The X-Factor" after just one season.

The changes to "X-Factor"'s panel follow the announcement that Christina Aguilera and Cee-Lo Green will return to "The Voice" after a season sabbatical that saw both singers replaced by Shakira and Usher. "American Idol" is also experiencing its fair share of judge shakeups, with long-running contributor Randy Jackson and first-timer Nicki Minaj leaving and the rest of the show's panel, Mariah Carey and Keith Urban, rumored to be following.

The Belarusian, who has won two grand slam titles in her career so far, achieved the milestone by reaching the finals in Rome on Sunday, where she was beaten by world no. 1 Serena Williams.
