Lets do it again!

Posted Sep 25th, 2005 at 06:36 AM by Mana
Well its a case of 'lets do it all again', in the world of Kiwi tennis this week. O'Conner, Barry, Lee and Jones are all playing and hoping to qualify for a 25k in Rockhampton, Australia. Three (bar Lee) qualified last week, which was a great effort considering that Barry and Jones are unranked. Tracey is ranked somewere around 1200, but is much better than her ranking states she is. In the maindraw O'Conner and Barry had heavy first round losses. But Jones crushed an Aussie wildcard 61 63! For those of you who don't know, she is only 14! Great effort from her. This week girls, lets get 4 Kiwis into the maindraw! (This means that Shona has to come to the party too). In the USA, Leanne Baker qualified for the 75k and lost in the 1st round to the #5 seed 26 76(3) 67(5)-this was heart-breaking for me but it was comforting to know that she can compete with players ranked top 150. This week she is playing in a 25k, in USA. She has direct entry into this tourney, so she can rest up and land her assult of the title. (A dark horse I know it). She should win the dubs as well.

Re: Lets do it again!

Sacha Jones has stuck more with playing juniors this year which I thinks wise of her, as Marina has shown the longer you play in juniors the higher chance of sucess in the seniors.
