Ok, I will do my Napoli report in parts, will post them when I have written them, so it will probably take a while. Stay tuned...
I left home really early on Thursday (middle of the night), had an early flight, which turned out to be the most beautiful flight I ever had. We were getting in the air as the sun was rising, so I could see the sun rising over the horizon from the plane
When I arrived in Napoli, I went to the bed&breakfast, met Salvatore somewhere on the way, when we had finally realised that we were both in Napoli already
(miscommunication much!) I have to say, he was really nice
Itís kind of strange to plan a 5 day trip with someone youíve never met (and all my family, especially my sister, was sooo worried about that!), but we got along really well
It didnít feel strange at all (which was a relief). We first relaxed a bit at the b&b.
I think I have to tell something about the man who ran the b&b
His name is Rafaelle and he was really nice....a bit too nice
Especially the first afternoon, he was constantly hugging us, taking our hands, kissing me on my hair and shoulders....I was so shocked! Salvatore told him that we didnít like that thought, and he got a bit better over the next days, which was good cause the first day it was just too much! He also tried to cook for us when we returned early-ish and he was still around, which we didnít want, so after the first day we made sure to cook later
And more of these kind of things. Iím sure he meant all well, but it was just too much for me!
The view from the b&b was really great btw, we were a bit up on a hill, so we could see over the city. Loved it.
Next, we went to Caserta to see the palace there, which is famous as a kind of mini-Versailles. On the station there we met Francesco (FORZA PENNETTA), who lives there. It was a bit strange to meet him because we had never even seen a picture of him, but he was also really nice. So we all went to the palace together, but unfortunately the famous gardens were closed. We did see the inside of the palace though, which was really beautiful, a typical palace with overdone gold and luxury. Amazing. After we saw the palace we went for a bit of a walk through Caserta (I noticed the garbage problem is worse there than in Napoli itself), and had an icecream together, and then me and Salvo went back to Napoli. I kind of stressed out in the train cause it took another route than on the way there, so I didnít recognise the stations and thought we were in the wrong train
Controlfreak me! Anyway, we returned safely to the b&b, but it wasnít exactly our day for public transport....
View from our Bed&Breakfast (get jealous, people!)
Caserta gardens, which we couldn't enter
Room in Caserta palace (very typical, I think)
Ceiling painting again
