Australian Open Memories

Posted Jan 10th, 2008 at 04:24 AM by Beefy
Well the Aussie Open is almost here, and it's been a life long favourite of mine, I've been watching it on TV for as long as I can remember, so many great memories, and probably since 1990 I was like "I wanna go to the tennis", mind you it was until 2004 that I first went! So with the Open almost upon us, I thought I'll take you for a trip down memory lane, sharing my favourite memories from the years I've gone there, enjoy

2004 - Running around the courts trying to find Daniela training, thinking another player was Daniela, running from one side of Melbourne Park to the other to see Daniela play, getting her autograph, getting Hingis' autograph, talking to Daniela. Personal Favourite - Waking up after day 1 with by face burnt, blistered and peeling

2005 - Going to the first day, not really wanting to see anyone but just for being there and not having to worry about missing a favourite, seeing Daniela beat Schett and win her doubles the same day, giving her a soft toy , talking to Nigel Sears a bit (Daniela's then coach), sitting among the Swedes for a match involing one of their players and a Dutch palyer (the stadium was rocking), seeing Tim, Daniela and Elena all in the same day, with prime seats and also seeing Lindsey, some young girl called Nichole Vaidisova, and Venus. Personal Favourite - Just being with Jannie and Chloe for the 3 days

2006 - Talking to Andy Murray about the draw, having my pic with Elena, Daniela's win over Serena. Personal Favourite - Building up a strong rapport with Nigel Sears. The best one about that was when Daniela was beating Serena 3-0 in the first when there was a rain break, he sees me in the foyer to the court (I was going to get something to eat, and he was going down to the players rooms) and he's just gone to me "She's there, she's there" You can't beat that

2007 - Getting my pic of me and Elena signed, watching Daniela train, Elena's win in the first round. Personal Favourite - After getting the pic of Elena signed, I was able to get a pic of her leaving court 3 (I'm like the paparazzi when there ) and in the pic she's just looking straight at the camera smiling, great pic

So that's that. I would have to say, 2005 would be the best Open I've been to, just the tennis I watched there, and just the personal stuff to. Don't know when I'll go this year, hope it's good though
