View Full Version : Who, when having a bad day, could lose to ANYONE?

Come On Arantxa

All players have their off days, but most of the top girls manage to find a way through it. But some seem able to lose to lose to so low-ranked players they should really beat in their sleep. I think the main ones are:

Amelie Mauresmo
Sandrine Testud
Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario
Amanda Coetzer

Any others?

I don't know if Martina ever gets a bad day, but she manages to lose pretty handily to some people I could name, y'know, take a whacking.....

Okay kidding!

But Serena sometimes drives me mad on her bad days. Maybe I should add her?

I would have to say Mary Pierce. In a previous thread, people seemed to agree that she had very high highs and very low lows.

Nancy Loeffler-Caro.

The last time she lost to a player outside the top 10 was in Toronto in 2000 when she retired against one of the spanish players. (i forgot who).

I think Capriati could loose to anyone if she's having a bad day. Alot of times she's come back to win after loosing a first set 6-0, so i think she would be my choice.

Monica Seles.She lost to Daja!

Daja is not "anyone". Monica played her worst healthy match in about 3 years, but I guarantee you she would have beaten at least 7 of the 10 players ranked between 31 and 40 anyhow. She would have found a way against someone less talented, or less determined, or less familiar with her.

Humm... I'am a canadien ,last year, 2001 she won the title

2000 she retired in the 3rd
set after she had bageled
Hingis in the 1st set & Hingis
had taken the 2nd set...

1999 she pulled out without
playing any single match...but
she went on to take the USO

1998 she didn't get a wildcard

PS: SERENA can randomly chokes ,but as long as i can remember she never, never had an off day...

Yeah, come to think of it. You're right, playa. Her choking drives me mad, when she should, in all honesty, have won. No off day. Good.

Have to nominate someone else. Ummmmm.........

LOL @ Fingon, doesn't she lose when she's having a good day?

I think Venus and Serena Fan is referring to Amelia Island '2000
Serena withdrew against Paola Suarez and was losing badly before she withdrew, since that time the only players Serena has lost to ranked lower than her are Monica and Megahn (another withdrawl) its a pretty incredible record.

Williams Rulez

That is an incredible record indeed... considering Monica is not just *anyone*...
