Really? They're playing? It's still pouring here in the city!

Jan 16th, 2004, 05:23 AM
new score please? :):)

Jan 16th, 2004, 05:29 AM
Hewitt leads 4-2, rain delay. At least according to www.7sport.com.au (http://www.7sport.com.au)

Why didn't they start Moya as per the schedule?

Jan 16th, 2004, 05:32 AM
Probably started Hewitt first for TV purposes.

Seven goes off at 5:30pm, so they'd want to show that match in full.

Jan 16th, 2004, 05:33 AM
Just gave some news.

Moya/Ferriera was moved to Court 1

Moya leads Ferreira 5-2

Jan 16th, 2004, 05:35 AM
Is that a rain delayed score?

Jan 16th, 2004, 05:40 AM
Yes still raining

Jan 16th, 2004, 05:56 AM

I don't think there will be a night match since Lindsay has withdrawn, but since there are rain delays, the matches could go into the night. BTW, Lindsay could be in doubt for the AO.

Fight Wayne!!
anybody else out there?

Jan 16th, 2004, 06:23 AM
I really wish people would stop hurting themselves. I know people are quick to retire the week before a slam to protect themselves, but this is riculous. Get well soon Martin. Good luck tomorrow Lleyton.

Jan 16th, 2004, 06:27 AM
Moya leads 4-0

Verkerk didn't get injured, he's just sick.

Jan 16th, 2004, 06:29 AM
moya 6-2 4-0
FIGHT Wayne!!

Jan 16th, 2004, 06:34 AM
Oh thanks, I guess it makes sense not to stay out there if you're sick and getting smacked around anyway. Still, I hope he's OK.

Woah, Moya's in great form. Tomorrow's final should be very interesting.

Jan 16th, 2004, 06:59 AM
Moya has now been up 4-0 for 30 minutes. Any news?

Jan 16th, 2004, 07:03 AM
why verkerk retired? was he injured?

Jan 16th, 2004, 07:36 AM
he retired to the crowd's disgust - I can tell you we got a dodgy end of the deal the day session :(

Tonight's matches are Mauresmo/Schiavone and the Women's Doubles Final - sorry no score updates from me tonight - though it will be on delayed coverage on 7 tonight.

Jan 16th, 2004, 08:33 AM
no news on mauresmo/Schiavone^

Jan 16th, 2004, 08:43 AM
Good luck to D.SAFINA/M.SHAUGHNESSY, and if anyone hears scores before I do, PLEASE post.

Anything about Amelčie

Jan 16th, 2004, 09:11 AM
sorry I'm not at the match so I can't give reports - all I can give you are the delayed coverage results from the tv here :)

Jan 16th, 2004, 09:15 AM
have they played 1 pt yet? that is all i Need to know?

Jan 16th, 2004, 09:17 AM
is it raining or they started to play?

Jan 16th, 2004, 09:20 AM
Don't know about Sydney, but we got a message on the screen saying that the tennis coverage wasn't going to be on in Brisbane - "Beverly Hills Cop 2" is on at 8:40pm instead. - It's only 7:25pm, here, 8:25pm in Sydney, so they would have started had it not been raining.

Don't know the reason, whether it's raining or not, as I missed the start of the message as I don't actually watch Home & Away, the TV is just on.

Jan 16th, 2004, 09:22 AM
thank you

Jan 16th, 2004, 09:23 AM
whoops I'll tell you in 5 mins whether or not we have it on tonight...

I know that as of right now it has stopped raining - actually it stopped spitting around 6.30pm :)

Though rain is predicted for all day tomorrow :(

Jan 16th, 2004, 09:34 AM
Apparently it's raining at Homebush again <g>

Eurosport is doing live coverage of it.

Okay this sums it all up...

Jan 16th, 2004, 10:01 AM
Eurosport person cracks me up:

"A lull in activity now, the stadium almost full to capacity... the court exuding a shine"

That could be because noone knew until they got to the venue that they weren't seeing the other SF match <g> I know when they announced Lindsay had withdrawn a groan went through the audience for the people who had day and night tickets - and then boos when Verterk w/d <g>

ETA: I think now more than ever, Lindsay made the right decision to w/d from the tournament or else she would have had to play late into the night which is the last thing you want to do if you have an injury.

Jan 16th, 2004, 10:32 AM
Night session cancelled - the 2nd SF will have to play their match tomorrow before the Final.

Jan 16th, 2004, 10:34 AM
