Okay she already has a billion points, I'm sure she'd be fine if she missed just one tournament; it's much better to rest her foot for Australia! Instead she remains in the draw where she will more than likely pull out a few days into the tournament (whether it's before she plays her first match or not) and leave the bottom half totally open. The top is already heavy with Justine/Lindsay/Chanda and a bunch of Russians, and the bottom has what - Mauresmo? No offense to her at all, it just seems quite lop-sided.

Her foot might not be so bad after all, while she needs to play against serius players before she goes to Melburne. Match practice is important. I'm sure she knows whats right for her.

I guess that if her foot is ok, she really wants to get some matches under her belt, get her match rhythm going. Whether that is smart or not really depends on how bad the foot injury is.

I am sure that if there was really no chance her foot is going to heal she would have withdrawn already

Perhaps she feels there is a good chance and she is willing to leave it to the last minute to make that decision. Only she can tell if her foot is ok to play on!

Why is Kim so intent on playing here?

Because she wants another AI title to keep in line with Lleyton winning his two in a row <g>
