Lovely pictures. :) Thanks. When I first saw these photos in this thread I thought Maria had won the Watsons Water Challenge final in Hong Kong because she was smiling and holding the taller trophy. But Venus Williams defeated Maria Sharapova 7-5 6-3. And Masha blew a 5-1 first set lead that had to shake her confiedence. :( If Mashara had won the first set she might have won the match.

Maria looks taller than Venus because of the angle of the photo and because she's standing straight while Venus is slouching a little. Maria is a shade over 6' tall while Venus is about 6'2" tall.

• She's taller.
She's over 6 feet, and still growing, a liability on the court. "Last year my legs grew so long, and it was tough on me," says Sharapova, whose parents are both under 6 feet. "Now my upper body is growing. Must be the carrot juice."
thats just to confirm shes not 183cm as listed by wtatour

the cat, I think the fact that Masha blew a 5-1 first set lead, didn’t shake her confidence. And even if Masha had won the first set, I don’t think she could have won the match.
Masha simply lacked the weapons and variety to close the first set while leading 5-1, and to win the match.
And yes, Masha was all smiling at the prize presentation ceremony. Masha isn’t the type of person who can’t smile after losing a final match. But at the Ciney, Belgium, exhibition final, one thing really upset Masha and made her cry, and that was the reason why she didn’t attend the closing ceremony.

What do you mean with "one thing" I thought that she was so upset because it was really a heartbreaking loss, so close and blowing 8 matchpoints.
Or did there happen something else that she was soooo upset?
And thegalaxy, thanks for these pics, some of them I've never seen before :)

is she playing in the doubles at the aussie open?

Thanks for the photos. :)
MSF, what one thing was it that made Maria cry after the Ciney final? I just assumed Masha got so upset because the crowd was rooting for Justine Henin and she lost 8 match points.

No, Masha wasn't holding any cellphone.
